}}Pisces is a [[Necromancers|[Necromancer]]], and regular customer of The Wandering Inn.

Appearance
Pisces is a young man with pale skin, brown unkempt hair and gray-green eyes.

Personality
When he was first introduced, Pisces was an obnoxious jerk, terrorizing the countryside with skeletons for money and food. He has the habit of using seven words where one word would suffice. Pisces often believes himself to be the smartest person in the room, which is often true.

As a result of choosing to be a [Necromancer], Pisces often attracts scorn and hatred. He chooses to weather this hatred as ignorance, refusing to change for societal pressure.

Background
History
Already during his 2nd year at Wistram, Pisces had made a name for himself with his prowess in magic and dueling. He could beat students with several years on him thanks to his talent with a rapier. But he was also rich in secrets due to his use of undead. Sometimes it appeared as though he knew everything. People could be whispering in the halls and he’d pick up on it. As a result, everyone suspected Pisces of having mastered an advanced eavesdropping spell, but no one could tell when he was using it or which spell it was. No one was aware that, in actuality, he was using undead mice to listen to other people's conversations. On numerous occasions, students had been casting [Detect Magic] to try and observe him using the spell, without any success.

Chronology
Powers and Abilities
He appears to be able to cast more than 50 different spells, given that Ceria mentioned him to know more spells than she does. The highest tier Pisces can cast is in the 3rd tier with the exception of one 4th tier spell ([Invisibility]). Aside from Necromancy, he is, according to himself, a specialist of the Wind Elementalist field of magic.

Pisces managed to create an undead that can level, an extremely rare if not unique feat that was a long term dream of his. He also developed the ability to raise undead without skeletal structures, such as a baby shield spider which he uses for scouting and spying on people.

He is able to look through the eyes of his undead creations, allowing him to spy on many people.

He is capable of raising eight deceased Goblins simultaneously and a Hob.

As a [Necromancer] he has a massive advantage when fighting against the undead. When Liscor was attacked by a horde of the undead, he managed to kill at least 100 minor Undead and even a Crypt Lord.

In a state of strong exhaustion he succeeded in reanimating over thirty skeletons in a ten minute period. However, that act almost killed him.

Furthermore, he is an excellent duelist, demonstrating his skill at Wistram as well as in subsequent fights. However, he does not possess the [Fencer] class, as he never wanted to level in it.

Pisces is able to create Bone Horrors, a kind of amalgamation of undead bone fragments. He has used them to clear out rats in Liscor's sewers, and has used them as weapons in the exploration of Liscor's Dungeon. After having optimized them, his primary Bone Horror has become 20% more efficient.

Former Possessions:
* Waisrabbit Bone Wand

Trivia
* 7 years ago, Pisces was 16 years old when he entered Wistram Academy and a Level 14 [Mage].
* As Ceria recalls it, Pisces was a Level 22 [Necromancer] at some point during his stay at Wistram.
* He’s wanted by several cities. Not for murder, though, just extortion and troublemaking. Furthermore, he is also hunted by the Wistram Academy. As a result, he rarely stays in the same area for long, because every time the school discovers his whereabouts they send out a team to capture him.
* The first Tier 4 spell Pisces knew was [Invisibility]. Learning it nearly killed him. He studied every night for at least two hours for a month before he got it down. He learned [Invisibility] when he was Level 18 and managed to level <em>twice</em> from learning it. The time he needed to learn a tier 4 spell is not the norm, though. It usually would require a mage much longer to be able to learn such complicated spell.
* 7 years ago when Pisces first attended Wistram he hadn't known any Tier 2 combat spells.
* Ksmvr is the only person who can annoy Pisces, though not the other way around.
* Despite the fact that Pisces took all of Nekhret's bones, he only used 4 of them when he created Toren.
* Pisces has indirectly caused the death of far more than 60 people (Toren's attack on Esthelm resulted in the death of "a lot of people" and Nekhret's shades killed around 60 people at Wistram)

* Pisces is aware that Erin comes from another world, though she doesn't know it.
* Pisces prefers Skeletons over Zombies, because he finds the latter rotting flesh unrefined. Because of this, he does not have any Skills involving the summoning of flesh-based undead.
Quotes
Volume 1
*(To Erin) “Now look, there’s no need for violence. I can see that you are no ordinary plebian fool but an extraordinary plebian. Believe me when I say that is a high compliment from a practice of the arcane such as I.”
* (To Erin) "I imagine…I imagine if all four containers were to rupture, the swarm of these insects could very well engulf us and melt our flesh within moments.”
* (To Erin) “I also had a far more lucrative occupation liberating unneeded items from those who were in no position to use them, but apparently that is considered a grave violation of privacy as well.”
Volume 2
* (To Erin) “Ah. There you are. Your inn moved. Why did it move?”
* (To Erin) “I may be the first [Necromancer] in years to master the animation of a species without bone. I even learned a new Skill. And leveled!”
* (To Erin) “This ‘hamburger’ interests me more, actually. I prefer meat.”
* (To Selys) “It isn’t murder if it’s a Human. I believe one of your friendly fellow citizens told me that.”
* (To Selys) “What? I’m on your side here. The girl gets punished, everyone’s happy, and I get a free body.”
* (To Ceria) “Too kind by far, that girl. For a child from another world, she is rather careless.”
Volume 3
* (To Ceria) “I am a better [Necromancer] than I am a [Mage] by far.”
* (To his teammates) “If we must persist, let us do so with dignity. Onwards, then.”
* (To a child) “Touch my bag child, and I will reanimate your corpse just so I can <em>beat it to death again.</em>”
* (To his teammates) “After all, if something strange is going on that girl probably had something to do with it.”
* (To Ceria) “You won’t believe what I—and Ksmvr I suppose—have discovered! It’s a revolutionary—nay, unprecedented loophole in the spell matrix! I can’t believe it wasn’t covered!”
* (To Erin) “Fine. I am outnumbered and overruled by the imposition of what some might call honor or common decency. Take the damned door!”
* (To Teriarch) “Please take me on as your apprentice! To learn from someone who lived during the time of Archmage Zelkyr—I would do anything for such an honor!”
Volume 4
* (To dead Bear) “<em>Rise, rise, oh fallen bear. To rend and bite, to rend and tear!</em>”
Volume 5
* (To Erin) “I call others fools. I judge harshly—out of pride and vanity it is true, but also a sense of my own self-worth, my own recognition of my talents. But I must admit—I am as idiotic as the next self-satisfied peon at times. We are all fools, and it is wrong of me to judge based on a moment’s failing. But perhaps it is only the truly intelligent that see the truth? Ah, hubris.”
* (To Falene) “No! Shut up! You’re worse than Ceria ever could be!”

Liscor is a city-state located in Izril, and it is inhabited by Drakes, Gnolls and Antinium. The city has around 85'000 inhabitants.

Geography
Liscor is located 88 miles south of Celum, over 30 miles south of Esthelm, 116 miles away from Remendia and 118 miles away from Ocre. Furthermore, Liscor is located 435 miles south of Invrisil. It is about 380 miles north of Pallass.

The city sits on the Floodplains that are devide Southern Izril from the human-colonized northern half of the continent. It has a lot of natural defenses; the only way to reach it is from the north and the south. The mountains make it impassable, and the southern border is guarded by the highly dangerous Blood Fields. Furthermore, it is always flooded for the first two months of Spring every year, due to its natural geography and nonstop rainfall. During this flooded period, powerful monsters populate the flooded waters.

Natural dangers
About a quarter of all traveler's deaths around Liscor are due to goblins. It was also said that rain, undead and war are the worst dangers to Liscor. Both of these statements were made before the Dungeon beneath Liscor was discovered.

Demographics
Liscor had about 80'000 civilian inhabitants at the end of book 1, not counting the 4'000 members of the watch and the 2'0000 members of the Liscorian Army fighting abroad. Whether adventurers were already included into either civilian or military numbers, is unknown. However, the city was unprepared to fit even more inhabitants inside its boundaries - and the population has dramatically increased after the dungeons around the city were discovered.

The Antinium in their hive below the city (according to estimates by Olesm and Zevara) number 9'000 soldiers and 24'000 workers. In case of a war, they are contractually obliged to mobilize in the defense of the city.

History
:Note: So far, nothing has been revealed about the history of Liscor beyond the latest decades. The humans invaded Izril more than 3000 years ago and have slowly expanded their influence southwards, so Liscor might date back to times of before the Five Families. It is also possible that Liscor was founded in more recent centuries, long after the Human invasion of Izril took place. Apparently, nobody in the city knew about the even more ancient dungeons/ruins below Liscor, which therefore must have been abandonded long before the current city was erected.

1st Antinium War
2nd Antinium War
Ten years ago, the city was almost destroyed when The Necromancer unleashed his armies of the undead on the continent. With the help of the [General] Zel Shivertail, the inhabitants of Liscor were able to hold off the undead by themselves for months.

After the Antinium War, the city entered the contract with the Free Antinium Hive, which offers military assistance for the permission of staying in the city, which greatly increases the strength of Liscor. Moreover, they are to provide services and goods to the city.

Book 1
In the autumn when Erin arrived near Liscor and started her business at the first Wandering Inn, a drake shepherd had discovered ancient ruins ten miles to the southwest of the city. This attracted many adventurers towards the city. Many adventurers and merchants arrived from the human north half of the continent, among them five silver-rank teams that chose to explore these ruins. (see: Ruins of Liscor)

As the expedition of these five teams failed, they triggered Skinner's Attack on Liscor. The undead guardian of the ruins invaded the city and killed many inhabitants, but were driven off towards the Wandering Inn, where Skinner was slain. Afterwards, the ruins were checked and found mostly empty. However, another entrance to a seemingly separate dungeon was discovered, but treated with much more respect than the ruins. Even more entrances were found in the months afterwards. (see: Dungeon of Liscor)

Books 2 to 4
In the following time, the noble thief Lyonette, who had been present in the city ever since the humans arrival, caused her second fire in Liscor's marketplace. She was caught and banned from the city, but found shelter in the Wandering Inn, which had been rebuilt closer to the city after an explosion. In that same winter, Erin installed a Magical Door in her inn, first only leading to Celum. Also, a [Necromancer] Goblin Lord bypassed Liscor on his way into the human north.

Book 5
At the onset of spring, adventurers in Liscor's dungeon triggered the Moth's Attack on Liscor, which led nearly to the destruction of the city, but was fended off with help from gold-rank adventuring teams, Antinium, Celum's city watch, and adventurers arriving from Pallass. This event was broadcasted by magical spells and orbs all over Innworld and made Liscor's dungeon famous as an adventuring place. It was declared to be a gold-rank dungeon.

Some time later, Raskghar inhabitants of the dungeon started another attack on Liscor and abducted Gnoll citizens to gain strength from a blood ritual. Their plan was prevented, and their leader Calruz was imprisoned.

The Goblin Lord Reiss was then returning into the south, hounded by the human forces of Lord Tyrion Veltras who intended to lay siege on Liscor and kill all inhabitants on the pretense of pursuing the Goblins. This plan almost succeeded even when the forces of Liscor's goblins and their allies were able to kill most of Reiss' host. Only the intervention of Magnolia Reinhart saved the city from destruction, as she extorted Veltras' retreat with threats on the life of his children. (see: Goblin-Human Siege of Liscor)

Book 6
In early summer, the housing situation of Liscor had deteriorated so far that the population demanded to elect a new council who would sort out the problems by expanding the city walls. This lead to a fierce campaign between the parties of Lism and Krshia, who offered different solutions on how to manage this. (see: First Elections of Liscor)

Layout
Liscor is enclosed on all four sides by massive walls with above-average magical defenses, second only to the famous Walled Cities. The city can be entered through gates from the south, north, east, and west.

Park & Playground:
In the center of the city there is a park with a playground occupying a part of it. The playground is like a jungle gym; long tunnels of smooth, polished wood connect towers that spiral upwards like a miniature castle. Monkey bars are set twenty feet in the air, above a floor that you have to climb up a long rope just to get to and a slide that curves downwards over thirty feet. The towering construction of wood and stone goes up four stories high. It has separate rooms with glass windows for children to occupy and play in walls with grips and even a huge rope bridge which sways and wobbles.

There are magical spells on the playing area, cast by a Wistram mage and checked upon each year. One of the spells freezes the air around the falling and slows them down to a crawl, until they softly land on the ground.
Liscor's walls are so fortified that they allowed them to repel the Antinium host countless times.

Liscor's City Watch can take care of any monsters that appear, as they are known to have highly skilled and strong members who could be considered Silver-rank or even Gold-rank adventurers, like Relc. The City Watch consists of 4000 members, but has been reduced by recent attacks on the city.

There are several mages in the city but none are particularly strong. Magic isn't much practiced in the area in the first place, making it likely that generally few mages come from Liscor compared to other places.

If it is being attacked by a foreign army, Liscor can recall its own army, the Liscorian Army, who act as mercenaries for other nations, for appropriate payment. They can field two thousand Drakes and a few hundred Gnolls at any given moment. Unless the walls could be breached in a week or less, the army would come running right back and smash them. They are currently located east, fighting near a Walled City.

Lastly, in time of war or during a crises, the Antinium will defend the city and help out with construction and other jobs.
* Any mage possessing even a single level in the [Necromancer] class is usually killed on sight in Liscor.
* In the public bathhouse in Liscor, Drakes and Humans have to pay only 5 coppers for entry, while Gnoll's and other Beastkin have to pay twice as much because of their fur.
* Their written language isn't english, as it is the case in Celum.
* The Gnolls in Liscor are forbidden from howling, unless there is a full moon.
* Over a quarter of the deaths of travelers on the roads around Liscor are due to Goblin attacks.
* During the Antinium Wars the Antinium never managed to reach Liscor.
* It is said that the three most dangerous things to Liscor are rain, the undead, and war.
*10 years ago, the Antinium colony settled in Liscor.
*During Skinner's attack on Liscor with over 400 undead, over 80 [Guardsmen] and nearly 200 civilians perished before the Hive was mobilized. The Antinium had lost 65 Workers and 47 Soldiers, after they helped.
* Crime in Liscor isn’t very profitable, as no criminal wants to arouse the wrath of the Antinium. Something about an Antinium Soldier <em>smashing</em> through a wooden door as ten more burrowed out of the ground tended to discourage many thieves and muggers.
* Watch Captains, such as Zevara, hold a higher position of authority than in Human cities. * The city council devoted funds to the park and playground as a matter of public benefit, so that the residents can relax and enjoy themselves when confined to the city during the spring months.
* In the early chapters the distance between Celum and Liscor was around/over 100 miles and in the newer Timeline the distance is 88 miles, leaving the True Distance of both cities uncertain.
* Corusdeer meat is Liscor's local specialty.

Liscor is a city-state located in Izril, and it is inhabited by Drakes, Gnolls and Antinium. The city has around 85.000 inhabitants.

Background
1st Antinium War
2nd Antinium War
Ten years ago, the city was almost destroyed when The Necromancer unleashed his armies of the undead on the continent. With the help of the [General] Zel Shivertail, the inhabitants of Liscor were able to hold off the undead by themselves for months.

After the Antinium War, the city entered the contract with the Free Antinium Hive, which offers military assistance for the permission of staying in the city, which greatly increases the strength of Liscor. Moreover, they are to provide services and goods to the city.

Chronology

Trivia
The Antinium had lost 65 Workers and 47 Soldiers, after they helped.
*The fee for selling something on Liscor's street is 5 silver coins for a profit of over 4 gold coins.
Among Drakes, the Watch Captain generally shares the same rank as members of a ruling Council and is usually given complete authority in local military matters.
* The relationship between Liscor and its army has always been strained.
* Having light pink scales, at least as a male, would likely lead to being humiliated growing up.
Krshia Silverfang is a Gnoll who manages a shop in Liscor. She is the leader of the Silverfang Tribe in Liscor and a Councilwoman on Liscor's council.
Appearance
She has brown eyes and dark brown fur.

Background
Ten years ago, Krshia moved to Liscor and started to collect spellbooks to deliver them during the gathering of all Gnoll tribes that occurs every decade with the hopes that Gnolls could have their very own [Mages].

However, Krshia's shop and collection of spell books were burned down by Lyonette du Marquin. As a form of apology, Lyonette, in her role as princess, upgrades Krshia's class from a [Shopkeeper] to a [Royal Shopkeeper].

Right before the Goblin Lord's attack on Liscor, Krshia, Mrsha, and a group of Gnolls cast [Everdawn's Radiance]. It is revealed that Krshia was once apprenticed to a [Shaman].

With the help of Watch Captain Zevara and Selys the [Heiress], Krshia launches her campaign for councilwoman. Her main campaign goals are expanding Liscor's walls with the help of the Antinium, lowering the cost of rent, and Gnoll equality.
Volume 4
* (To Lyon) “Why would a Lord of the Wall want to speak with Erin Solstice? It is curious how many famous and powerful people she attracts, is it not?”
* (To Lyon) “True. But I hope whatever he wants does not lead to another incident. Erin Solstice is adept at causing those as well.”
* (To Lyon) “All things change. This is what we Gnolls know. To stay the same is to be a fool. So you offer and I respond thusly: yes. Lyonette, if you will give me a blessing, a royal title, I would accept with gratitude.”
* (To herself) “Hrr. I can still sell this, though. Perhaps I can even sell it for more if I rip out these pages. They would make good toilet paper, no?”
Volume 5
* (To Gnolls) “Gnolls have existed since the first record of this world. Throughout thousands of years we have lived. Not just on Izril. Our people have waned and risen with each passing era. In the beginning, there were Dragons and they ruled us cruelly. We died for sport, as animals. But we survived. We survived the Sunset of Flame. We marched out of bestiality, survived the long darkness and kept our minds even as the Raskghar split from our people. We became more than animals and we challenged the Dragons and brought them down.”
* (To Gnolls) “Our people rose. We were mighty during the Rain of Scales. We fought the Selphids during the Age of Theft and threw loose the shackles with the rest of the world. During the Twilight of Magic, our armies joined the others and overthrew the half-Elven dominion. Again and again, we were challenged. And each time we lived and prospered. Eras past, the Gnolls rose and fell and once we were considered a world power among powers. But now? No more.”
* (To Zevara) “Let us say that it is a decision of Gnolls, Watch Captain. We will not flee the city. And few others will too, I think. When many hearts beat as one, fear has little place, yes?”

Volume 6
* (To Erin) “Do not stay if it hurts. Go. Run about in the fields. Play baseball—and invite me when you do! Go, drink. Find an attractive young person to have sex with. Or old person. Or buy one of my—”
* (To Erin) “It is not as if Humans are barred from Gnoll lands, yes? Your kind seldom makes the trip. As for the grand meeting—you could be on the outside. So yes, I say come. Come, Erin Solstice. Explore my home.”
Numbtongue was one of thirteen Redfang Elite Warriors tasked to kill Erin Solstice by Garen Redfang. As a hob, Numbtongue and the other goblins are saved by Erin from Eater Goats. Numbtongue is eventually hired as security at The Wandering Inn where he works until the Goblin Lord's attack on Liscor.
Numbtongue was severely injured during the battle but was saved by Laken the Emperor. After the attack, Numbtongue is the only Redfang Elite Warrior at The Wandering Inn. Post-attack, Numbtongue starts to mine in the caves of the High Passes for gems and magicore.
Trivia
* In Interlude – Bird, his age and birthday, which is sometime in Autumn, were revealed.
* Bird hunts birds for numerous reasons, like to showcase his abilities. He loves to hunt and wants to challenge himself. Shooting at slow beings on the ground is too easy, so he looks to up to the masters of the sky. Furthermore, he is jealous of birds and their ability to fly. Also, well, they taste delicious.
* Bird is considered weird. Even Pawn, Anand, Belgrade and Garry think and agree of Bird’s weirdness.
* Erin calls his chess games the ‘weirdest games she’d ever played’.
* He chose to be called Bird because he likes Bird and because of Henry Edward Bird, who invented the Bird's Opening and Bird's Defense in Chess.

Liscor is a city-state located in Izril, and it is inhabited by Drakes, Gnolls and Antinium. The city has around 85.000 inhabitants.

Background
1st Antinium War
2nd Antinium War
10 years ago, the city was almost destroyed when The Necromancer unleashed his armies of the undead on the continent. (see: Antinium Siege of Liscor)

After the Antinium War, the city entered the contract with the Free Antinium Hive, which offers military assistance for the permission of staying in the city, which greatly increases the strength of Liscor. Moreover, they are to provide services and goods to the city.

Chronology

Government
Liscor is ruled by a civilian council made up of the 8 foremost important Drake in the city. They decide what must be done from time to time and taking care of bureaucratic measures. Liscor has no nobility.

The 8 Known Members:
# Zevara Sunderscale - Captain of the Watch
# Olesm Swifttail - Chief [Tactician] of the City
# Tekshia Shivertail - Guildmistress of the Adventurer’s Guild
# Ulseil - Head of the Merchant’s Guild
# Unknown - The Foremost [Mage] (Usually Head of the Mage’s Guild)
# Unknown - Unknown

Military

Trivia
*The fee for selling something on Liscor's street is 5 silver coins for a profit of over 4 gold coins.
* Liscor has two people capable of a [Courier’s] speed — Hawk and the Gecko.
Among Drakes, the Watch Captain generally shares the same rank as members of a ruling Council and is usually given complete authority in local military matters.
Krshia's eyes are especially noticable, as they don't possess a sclera; each one consists solely of one pupil sourrounded by a brown cornea.

Personality

Appearance
Pyrite is a large hob with multiple layers of fat protecting him.

Personality
Pyrite avoids conflict unless absolutely necessary but is willing to be vicious if it means survival. Pyrite is willing to make himself an object of ridicule to defuse a violent situation and is especially protective of goblin children.

Background
Pyrite once lived in the Mountain City Tribe, but left at one point because he felt very uncomfortable living there due to the custom of taking human women as sexual prisoners.

During his time at the Mountain City Tribe, Pyrite was mentored by the [Goblin Lord] Greydath of Blades, but wasn't able to pass Greydath's "basic" training. He did manage, however, learn how to anticipate where and when an opponent is going to hit.

As [Mining Chieftain] of the Goldstone Tribe, Pyrite avoided violence as much as possible. He hid away from humans, cultivated an interest in rocks, and kept from massacring the occasional Bronze and Silver rank team to avoid attention. He kept to mining gemstones and gave most of them away to the children of his tribe.

Eventually, the Flooded Waters Tribe conquered the Goldstone Tribe and assimilated Pyrite and his Goblins into the tribe.

Appearance
Greydath is tall, as tall as Headscratcher is, and lean. He only wears a long-hanging loincloth with a belt and carries a greatsword on his back. Greydath's body is covered in scars. His most noticeable feature is his beard, which no other goblin has. It is grey and long, running down even to his chest in a wispy point.

As one might expect of someone of his age and as a veteran warrior, he has a few missing teeth.
During the Second Antinium War, Greydath was known as the greatest warrior, someone whose skill at arms let him cut the air itself. He could match any [Blademaster], any [Sword Dancer] or [Duelist].
10 years ago Velan came to Tremborag, asking him to join his army, which he refused. To this day Tremborag takes pride to have defied the previous Goblin King and became even more arrogant due to this act.

Tremborag's ability to turn into a monster comes from his Goblin heritage. Greydath, however, considers him weak due to him not being able to maintain the transformation for long periods.

Personality
Background
Pyrite once lived in the Mountain City Tribe, but left at one point because he felt very uncomfortable living there. The cause was their custom of taking human women as prisoners, whenever they pillage a city, and put them in a dungeon where they are raped till they die.

During his time at the Mountain City Tribe, Pyrite was mentored by the [Goblin Lord] Greydath of Blades, but wasn't able to pass Greydath's "basic" training. He did manage, however, learn how to anticipate where and when an opponent is going to hit.
