| The chapter begins with [[Ceria Springwalker|Ceria]] visiting [[Calruz]] in jail. He’s training with his one hand as they talk and reminisce. She tells him about their plan to go elsewhere thanks to the reward from the dungeon and rakasghar. She leaves to return the day after. The next, it’s about [[Olesm Swifttail|Olesm]] and his monthly chess newspaper. He wanted to continue with it now that he wasn’t as busy. As he plans on making more, especially now that [[Niers Astoragon|Niers]] had taken an interest in him and his newspaper, but to his horror, the price had increased. He’s forced to pay for the premium newsletters he planned on giving his premium readers, but he meets [[Hawk]] who gives him the advice to sell his papers for way more and make them less accessible. Because if he didn’t, someone would just copy his papers and sell it cheaply. So Olesm returned back to the scribe he’d hired earlier and tries to get his papers back and they begin to fight because he caught her stealing his paper and copying it! Ilvris walks into their fight and they stop. [[Ilvriss Gemscale|Ilvriss]] asks the scribe to draw some things for him and then decides to help Olesm with his papers. After he’s done helping Olesm, he has a meeting with Osthia about the Necromancer. As they begin to argue about their differences, Ilvris aides appear and they begin to plan a way to kill the [[Az’kerash]]. Then, he takes the newspaper he’d gotten from Olesm and heads to [[Erin Solstice|Erin]]. He talks with her and reveals his plan to escape from Liscor from a different location thanks to Hawk’s help. Erin is saddened at his departure, but he gives her a ring and promises to meet her again. The chapter ends with him disappearing three days later and by the fourth he was back in Salazar.
