===Volume 7=== The Bushrangers were alerted by Adventurer Mexisa that they may have found someone the Bushrangers were looking for. Upon arrival, they discover the remains of Dev and his camp. Mexisa believes that Dev was killed by one of the beasts of the shining zone. She sold Dev's belongings to the Bushrangers over Wistram Academy out of respect for the Last Light of Baleros. Dev had set up camp 50 miles into the he Dyed Lands of Seequal and had been exploring the area and making drawings of the flora and fauna. He survived for over 5 months by trapping animals for food. While there, he successfully charted vast areas of the Chalklands. Mexisa believes that Dev was attempting to leave the Dyed Lands before he was killed. Daly is fairly sure that Dev's journal is written in Punjabi and brings it to Kirana to translate. She recognized Dev's name and states that he had decided to leave the group of earthers they had both originally been part of. The United Nations adds Dev's name to the list of Earthers - a project started by Ken in case they return. The journal reveals that during the Winter Solstice, he was approached by a scary woman (Kasigna or Cauwine) that he thought to be a bhoot (Ghost or Devil) or something worse. The woman had got past all of his traps, and left no footprints in his camp. She offered him something and wanted Dev to take her hand, but he refused and she vanished. After the encounter he write her down and drew an image of a her as a shadowy woman in a doorway in his journal. He would die months afterwards.
