== Appearance ==
Like most String People, the Emperor of Sands can freely swap their body parts. However, the Emperor can take this one step further, and put on the heads of other String-Folk, allowing them to change outlook and personality.<ref name=":0">[https://wanderinginn.com/2020/03/18/7-13-k/ Chapter 7.13K]</ref>

As Pathorex, he appears as a young man in the prime of his life, with emerald eyes, short hair, and stitch-marks on his fingers and neck. As Saet-rei, she is a tall, elegant woman with eyes brilliant as sapphires, and stitch-marks on her neck and every joint on her body.<ref>[[Chapter 5.02]]</ref> As Xorne, his head is grey and thinning, while his body is that of a fitter and younger man.<ref name=":1" />

== Personalities==
When changing heads, the Emperor of Sands integrates the personality and memories of the head, becoming a gestalt between the two and allowing for a change of perspective. Each of these heads can independently think and talk, but only one can be worn at a time.<ref name=":0" /> Furthermore, only the current head of the Emperor of Sands can voluntarily choose to change his/her head. 

The original Emperor's head is insane and unpredictable, and is only to be put on as a last resort. Pathorex is charismatic, yet impulsive, and often makes decisions based on the heat of the moment. While these decisions sometimes pay off thanks to his class [Lucky Prince], they can also backfire with cause to regret, shown when he executed [[Drevish]], resulting in month-long skirmishes with [[Takhatres]] and his tribe. Saet-rei is charming and cunning, with a love of puns. Xorne is calculating, and excellent at making plans and infrastructure, with his talent leading him to be headhunted by the [[Blighted Kingdom]].

==Background==
Over the last eight years, the Emperor of Sands swallowed most of the nations, once part of [[Flos Reimarch|Flos']] empire, to the west. With his vast army he burns and pillages every village in his way.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2016/10/26/interlude-king-edition/ Interlude – King Edition (Archived)]</ref>

The most important reason as to why he hasn't expanded to the east and reached Flos' kingdom yet is the Zeikhal desert. Being possibly twice as large as the Sahara, it is highly difficult to cross it with an army.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2018/01/06/4-00-k/ Chapter 4.00 K]</ref>

==Chronology==
After the King of Destruction awakened from his slumber, the Emperor of Sands, while wearing Pathorex's head, executed [[Drevish]], one of the [[Seven]], and sent the Architect's head to the King of Destruction.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/05/05/2-00-k/ Chapter 2.22 K]</ref>

After killing Drevish, the Emperor of Sands spends much of his time in an antagonistic role towards Flos and is primarily seen in the story fighting Flos using proxy armies or other tactics.
