== History == Gravesong was first announced to the public on January 1, 2022 by pirateaba, as a new, fully-written book. The initial draft had at least 150,000 words and was written in secret alongside the regular Wandering Inn releases. It was planned to be edited throughout the beginning of 2022 and intended to be released as an e-book, a physical book, and an audiobook for all readers in the summer of 2022<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2021/12/29/8-61/. Chapter 8.61 Author's Note]</ref>. In the middle of October 2022, news articles from Yahoo Finance<ref>https://finance.yahoo.com/news/yonder-serialized-story-platform-launched-124428057.html</ref>, Variety<ref>https://variety.com/2022/biz/asia/yonder-story-platform-naver-wattpad-1235403577/</ref>, and Business Wire <ref>https://www.businesswire.com/news/home/20221013005132/en/New-App-YONDER-Reimagines-Serialized-Fiction-with-a-Curated-Catalog-from-Bestselling-Authors-and-the-Most-Exciting-Voices-in-Storytelling</ref> reported that Gravesong would be released in a new serialized story platform by [https://www.wattpad.com/ Wattpad]-[https://www.webtoons.com/en/ WEBTOON] owner [https://www.naver.com/ Naver]. This received notable backlash from the community due to the new platform's perceived "predatory practices" and microtransaction nature. It is believed that this is when moderators on Reddit and Discord first began removing links to sites that contain illegal copies of the advanced Patreon version and banning users involved. In a Reddit post by pirateaba, it was explained that the draft was taken to big publishing houses like [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tor_Books Tor Books]; however, none were interested, and the decision was made to publish the story on [https://m.yonderstory.com/ YONDER] instead. The post also confirmed that there would be an audiobook release by [https://podiumaudio.com/ Podium], but the team is still waiting on legal permission to use one of the most important songs<ref>[https://www.reddit.com/r/WanderingInn/comments/zby475/gravesong_on_yonder/ Reddit post from pirateaba]</ref>. On December 1, 2022, the first chapter of Gravesong was released on YONDER, with the first 12 chapters being free to read. PirateabaAssistant#9538 has clarified in a discord post<ref name="paba-assistant-1">[https://discord.com/channels/346842016480755724/1048012872757805107/1049037380314734592 Discord post by PirateabaAssistant#9538]</ref> that the YONDER version of the novel is "slightly smaller" than the Patreon-only advance copy due to being edited down to fit onto the platform but without any significant changes. On April 20, 2024, the audiobook version of Gravesong was released on Audible. The release of the ebook version was delayed to 2025, due to exclusivity agreements with Yonder.<ref>https://wanderinginn.com/announcements/16717/</ref>
