The '''Great Plains''' are a broad expanse of flatlands central to southern Izril. Also known as the '''Gnoll Plains,''' it is the home of the nomadic [[Gnolls|Plains Gnoll]] tribes.

== Overview ==
The Great Plains is the only place in the [[Innworld|world]] firmly under the control of Gnolls. Historically, there were tribes found in other geographical locations, such as forests, mountains, and even underground. With the [[Humans]] colonizing Izril's north, and the [[Drakes|Drake]] cities slowly encroaching on the territory, the Gnoll territory has dwindled to a fifth of its original size.<ref>{{VERef|Chapter 8.02}}</ref>

Several giant [[magicore]] crystals, once used in [[Fissival]]'s teleporatation network, were repurposed and buried across the Great Plains to suppress the Gnolls' arcane abilities.<ref>{{VERef|Chapter 8.42}}</ref>

Also beneath the Great Plains lies the lost Kingdom of Gnolls,<ref name=":0" /> now occupied by [[Raskghar]].

== Geography ==
The Great Plains primarily consists of flat grasslands with rivers, with few trees. It is divided by the eastern and southern parts of the [[High Passes]]. The Drake cities are outside the Great Plains, with [[Oteslia]] being the closest [[Walled Cities|Walled City]].   

After the Meeting of the Tribes, three of the greatest Gnolls in history magically expanded Izril's landmass, essentially wedging a raised section of the seafloor into the Great Plains,<ref name=":0">{{VERef|Chapter 8.85}}</ref> doubling or tripling it in size.<ref>{{VERef|Interlude – Singing Ships}}</ref>
