'''Hellste''' is one of the afterlives of [[Innworld]], and is the one reserved for sinners.

== Geography ==
It was originally based on the nightmares of the gods that created it. There were flaming pits of hellfire and places so dark that not even a god could see inside. It was designed so that the inhabitants could slowly reshape it.

The [[Goblins]] reshaped it so that there were channels the sinners would flow into, and for light to shine on the dark places.

Within Hellste, the [[Antinium]] Heaven is slowly growing as a separate realm.<ref name=":0">[https://wanderinginn.com/2023/11/26/9-67-pt-1/ Chapter 9.67 (Pt. 1)]</ref>

== Overview ==
Hellste was created as a punishement for sinners, those truly depraved individuals, and those bearing [[Horror Ranks]] regardless of context for how they gained them.<ref name=":2">{{VERef|10.37 GDI (Pt. 2)}}</ref> It was designed for souls to wallow in their filth and create horrors for [Warlocks] and the like to summon. In Hellste, souls can be reshaped, and the people there can become as monstrous as they were on the inside. It's stated that Hellste was unfinished and the planned torturers for the souls weren't implemented.<ref name=":1">{{VERef|10.33 MNK}}</ref> Skills and magic are disabled in Hellste. The [[Lucifen]] are the original caretakers of Hellste, and they draw their authority from it.

Because Goblins were automatically designated as sinners, every one that has ever existed was sent there upon death. They massively outnumbered the combined sinners of other species and took control of the realm, reshaping it to suit them better and taming the wretched realm.<ref name=":0" />

Upon the destruction of Kasignel, the souls that were there at the time poured into Hellste,<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2023/11/26/9-67-pt-2/ Chapter 9.67 (Pt. 2)]</ref> and souls went there by default for a time. They, the Goblins save for the remaining [[Goblin Kings]], and several of the Horror Rank bearing souls have been moved to the new Kasignel.<ref name=":2" />

Until recently, the Antinium Heaven in Hellste was a new realm developing within Hellste. The Goblins and ghosts were unable to cross the boundary and enter it, nor speak with the Antinium,<ref name=":0" /> though both sides could communicate through signing.<ref name=":1" /> It has been moved to the new Kasignel.<ref name=":2" />
