== Appearance ==
Hydras are huge monsters, taller than two houses, with multiple long heads. When angered, Hydras are roaring, or hissing.<ref name="7.10K" /> 

== Habitat ==
They live in swamps - the swamps of [[Baleros]] are famous for having Hydras.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2020/02/19/7-08-k/ Chapter 7.08 K]</ref> They can also be found on Terandria, such as in the damp kingdom of [[Desonis]].

== Threat Assessment ==
Hydras are considered high-level threats. Non-adventurers like [[Selys]] and [[Krshia]] assume that a level 70 adventurer would slay a Hydra single-handedly (with the addition that people don't level that high).<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2016/11/16/1-27/ Chapter 1.27]</ref>

They can snap up a horse and rider in a single bite, and also spit dangerous venom, that may possibly even corrode armor.<ref name="7.10K" />

Hydras are able to regenerate, unless they are fought with items that halt tissue regeneration. Cauterizing the Hydra's wounds with magical burning swords is one such way. The most-utilized strategy against Hydras is to hack at them long enough to wear them out, until their regeneration can no longer keep up, then go for the kill.<ref name="7.10K" />

There are multiple types of Hydras, some of which are more magical. Poison type Hydras are not considered as magical as some other variants.<ref name=":0">[https://wanderinginn.com/2021/04/10/8-16/ Chapter 8.16]</ref>

== History ==

The [[Order of the Thirsting Veil]] battled a Hydra in a [[Terandria]]n swamp recently, which was broadcasted via the scrying orb network of [[Wistram]].<ref name="7.10K">[https://wanderinginn.com/2020/02/26/7-10-k/ Chapter 7.10 K]</ref> The Ailendamus armed forces use Hydras.

[[Altestiel]] and [[Belchaus Meron]] rescued five [[Earthers]] from a Hydra in [[Desonis]].<ref name=":0" />

== Trivia ==

* [[Dragons]], [[Wyrms]], Rue, Amphitheres and [[Wyverns]] are their relatives.
* It seems the other Draconid species despise them.
* Along with the Wyverns, they are the last-species to inherit the [[Innworld|world]] from other extinct Draconid species.<ref>{{VERef|10.37 GDI (Pt. 2)}}</ref>
*In the center of the [[Labyrinth of Souls]], its greatest guardian is an energy construct in the shape if a thousand-foot Hydra.
