Ryoka, Fierre, and Salamani head to Invrisil. Empress Nsiia learns golem-crafting in secret. Magus-Crafter Femithain works on Domehead, his state's submission to the Golem Fights. Nsiia meets the Oracle of Elbe. Yinah the Cat's legs are shattered. Nsiia's Golem Cat is discovered and widely praised, but she destroys it to make prosthetics for Yinah. Domehead participates in the Golem Fights, and ends up defeating the reigning champion by learning additional fighting moves from Nsiia and Armsmaster Dellic mid-fight, possibly becoming sentient.

In Az'kerash's castle, Belavierr makes a Cloth golem.
