'''Lism Swifttail''' is a [[Drakes|Drake]] shopkeeper in [[Liscor]] and [[Olesm Swifttail|Olesm's]] uncle. He is a member of Liscor’s Council.

== Personality ==
Lism has an obnoxious and stubborn personality. He can be bigoted particularly against Humans though gradually he does soften up to some extent. Despite this racism, he does take his shopkeeping seriously and is seen as one of the top two shopkeepers on Market Street in Liscor.<ref name=":0">[https://wanderinginn.com/2019/06/25/6-28/ Chapter 6.28]</ref> He is excellent at spotting trends and has a habit of staying in on a bet or gamble that later pays off. 

For the most part, Lism's prejudices stems from conservative values and an aversion of outsiders coming into his beloved city. However, he later recognizes the positive changes to Liscor brought by 'outsiders' such as [[Erin Solstice]] and the Gnolls. Ultimately, he changes his ways, allowing Antinium to help build parts of the city and implementing a plan to 'steal' high-level Gnoll workers from Cellidel.<ref>[[Chapter 8.34 R]]</ref>

Lism dotes on his nephew,<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2019/07/13/6-30/ Chapter 6.30]</ref> and has a soft spot for children, while also funding a program for helping those in need.

When Erin first came into Liscor looking for food, Lism was the one to sell to her though he vastly overcharged her for the basic supplies whilst also insulting her.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2016/09/11/1-13/ Chapter 1.13 (Archived)]</ref> Later on, Erin came back to get her money back and Lism sets up a bet with the money on the line. He proposed that his nephew, Olesm would be able to beat Erin in a game of chess. If Olesm won, Erin had to leave and if Erin won he would pay back the coin he'd taken from her besides the few silver it should have cost her.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2016/10/02/1-19/ Chapter 1.19 (Archived)]</ref> Erin won the bet and bought Lism's chessboard as well.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2016/10/05/1-20/ Chapter 1.20 (Archived)]</ref>

His shouting had varying levels of success depending on the agitation of the crowd or recent events. This came to a peak when the gnolls demanded an election to give themselves the chance at spots on the city council and Lism decided to run against Krshia.<ref name=":0" /><ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2019/06/29/6-29/ Chapter 6.29]</ref> He ran on a campaign of drake supremacy working on the people's fears of humans and antinium. Eventually, he did win a council seat alongside Krshia.<ref name=":2" />

While having a meeting with the senators from Pallass, Lism is informed that not all the Raskghar will be executed and that Pallass will take control of the remaining prisoners despite his objections. Lism and the Council decide to ally with other smaller Drake cities, such as Hectval, to counter Pallass.

Lism is dismayed by Hectval's standoffishness when he tries to communicate with them alongside his Gnoll council members. Later, while speaking with Scalespeaker Yisht, he realizes that Hectval is a speciesist city, prejudiced against everyone except Drakes. They put collars on Gnolls and call them "pawworkers," a derogatory term for Gnolls. After hearing all the prejudices from Scalespeaker Yisht, Lism slaps Yisht and tries to make it look like an accident. This slap results in Hectval sending a group of assassins who kill Erin. The consequence of Erin’s murder is that Liscor declares war on Hectval.

The city of Liscor becomes wealthy after significant investments and the expansion of the city. This results in inflation that affects the middle class and poor citizens of Liscor. Lism ponders how to solve the inflation. After other countries, cities, and families start printing their own money, Lism suggests to the council that Liscor’s council should build houses and give them to the citizens. He also proposes the idea of paper money, suggesting that Liscor can create its own currency to alleviate inflation.
