== Appearance ==
A Manticore is ''part lion, part scorpion, part bat''. They can fly, despite being five times as large as actual lions or larger, they have muscular bodies and a stinger with lethal venom.<ref name="7.08K" />

They are not mindless monsters, having some basic intellect.<ref name="7.08K" />

== Habitat ==
There have been reports of Manticore presence in [[Terandria]]<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2019/09/07/6-42-e/ Chapter 6.42 E]</ref> and [[Chandrar]]<ref name="7.08K">[https://wanderinginn.com/2020/02/19/7-08-k/ Chapter 7.08 K]</ref>.

They might also occur in [[Rhir]]<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/04/25/1-00-c/ Chapter 1.00 C (just generally referenced as monster)]</ref> and [[Izril]]<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/guestbook/ Erin's guestbook (not canon)]</ref>, but they are probably not a wide-spread monster variant.

== Threat Assessment ==
A proper Manticore infestation is hard to deal with, and requires whole armies or numerous Gold Rank [[Adventurers|Adventurer]] teams, given how even a single Manticore may pose a threat to a Gold rank team. While thousands of Manticores usually mean large-scale death, e.g. that of entire cities, just one hundred Manticores are certainly a nuisance.<ref name="7.08K" />

The Realm of [[Belchan]] allowed [[Flos Reimarch]] to proceed against a Manticore infestation with the army of Reim itself. Flos slaughtered over a hundred and some Manticores there, although the beasts were capable of fighting organized and strategically as a group.<ref name="7.08K" />

== Utility ==
The hides and other parts (probably including the venom stinger) can be used for crafting.<ref name="7.08K" /> The meat tastes like magical venison and people claimed they find it delicious.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2020/02/26/7-10-k/ Chapter 7.10 K]</ref>

Manticores may be [[Beast Tamers|tamed]] and used as mounts. However, they are not capable of long flights (like [[Griffins]] or [[Wyverns]]) and they are notoriously hard to control.
