Niers possesses a colorful, flamboyant personality that matches his legend. Befitting his status as one of the greatest [Strategists] in the world, he wields a sharp mind, adept at navigating through warfare and politics. However, he also retains the insane, unpredictable mindset possessed by adventurers. Though not needlessly reckless, boredom drives him towards risk. Niers is willing to go through great expense or orchestrate elaborate gambits in order to seek challenges and excitement, seen with his games of hide-and-seek that he plays with his students. While Niers avoids unnecessary bloodshed when he can, he can be a ruthless mercenary and has long stopped counting the dead in the wake of his campaigns.

Conscious of his status as a hero among [[Fraerlings]], he is especially protective of his people, taking strides to ensure their safety. However, his vigilance and meticulous planning still ensured there were failsafes in Elvallian for the possibility of enemy Fraerlings, As a teacher, he can be a hard taskmaster towards his students and delights in pointing out their mistakes. Despite that, he is much beloved by them and, in turn, he is very proud of them and delights in their achievements, though it doesn't stop him from "tormenting" them with little pranks and homework assignments.

Having stood alone at the pinnacle for so long, Niers longs for an equal to relate to. That being said, he is romantically inept, and most of his attempts have ended with disaster, including one where he was exchanging correspondence with a "Lady B," who turned out to be the Lord of the Dance, [[Belchaus Meron]].<ref name=":Interlude – Niers" /><ref>{{VERef|10.08 (Pt. 1)}}</ref>
