He was indifferent to most of the smithing crafts that he did not take seriously, shows almost no respect to anybody, and is drunk more often than not.

While in this state, whenever he did make something that he had giving it his all, he is obsessed with perfectionism for his own craft that bordering on madness. If there is even a single fixable mistake in the finished product, he becomes desperate and depressed. Often, he will destroy a flawed piece, becoming enraged and aggressive to anyone who tries to stop him from doing so.

When the King of Destruction commissioned Deríthal-vel to forge weapons, Pelt and the other smiths focused so completely on fulfilling the order that they neglected quality control on their remaining projects. One of those projects for architectural support was made with flawed metal and ultimately collapsed, killing hundreds. As a result, Pelt and several other master smiths were exiled from the mountain holds.
When the King of Destruction comissioned Deríthal-vel for weapons, he and other smiths neglected the quality assurance of another task in favour of the order, resulting in many deaths. He along with several other Dwarfs were kicked out of the Dwarf mountains for the incident. Dawil admits that the exile was not really his fault; he was only one of the smiths. According to Pelt, he and Taxus grew arrogant and corrupt, and they ruined an entire generation of smiths as a result.

Despite being only one of many smiths involved in the incident, Pelt claimed that he and Taxus had grown arrogant and corrupt, and that their influence had ruined an entire generation of smiths. In his shame and grief, he became an alcoholic and lost his pride and passion for the craft. Though he would continue to work as a [Smith], Pelt became obsessed with perfection, destroying any work that even had a minor flaw.
Pelt moved to Pallass and became a smith there, albeit without the pride and passion he once had. He teaches multiple apprentices including his primary apprentice Emessa.

At some point, Pelt moved to Pallass. He taught multiple apprentices, though at present, only one had stayed, Emessa.
