Niers teaches using a variety of practical exercises such as allowing students to outfit small divisions with supplies and food<ref name=":0">[https://wanderinginn.com/2019/11/09/interlude-the-titans-question/ The Titan's Question]</ref> or having realistic combat exercises using paid [[Selphids]] that can survive having their bodies chopped apart. He does limit actual harm from coming to his students and company. In the case of the students outfitting the division, the students were sent to a city that was set-up by Niers to include paid [Merchants] and [Informants] where they could purchase supplies with real gold, but the supplies did not actually go to any of Niers' divisions.

Niers also holds meetings for many big world events where his students can observe wars and battles and talk about their predictions or how they might handle it as a leading strategist on the scene.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2019/02/19/5-61/ Chapter 5.61]</ref>
