== Overview == <blockquote>βWe are in the age our [Shamans] and [Chieftains] have declared the Waning World. A time where the legendary heroes of our kind are memories, and where tradition may hold us back as the rest of the world advances." </blockquote><blockquote>- Krshia Silverfang on the Waning World </blockquote>Compared to ancient times, the current era has declined in terms of levels, magic, and and legends. Most races have diminished in power and scope, while others have gone extinct entirely. The presence of this decline can most obviously be seen in Wistram Academy, where a true [Archmage] has not been seen in many years, and where the upper levels are barred to all mages, though this is partly due to the actions of Archmage Zelkyr. Higher tier spellbooks and artifacts are no longer produced, and artifacts and relics are treasured beyond worth. This decline can be attributed to world-ending disasters such as the Creler Wars or Goblin Kings rampaging, which has a tendency to halt or regress advancements in society. However, those periods of time where catastrophes occur also have higher-leveled people and better artifacts. As such, the Waning World is considered a low point in history as there hasn't been a disastrous event in millennia.
