Synopsis[edit | edit source]

Day 69

The Goblins continue to shoot arrows from the woods before being chased off but Laken senses the villager's fear and decides to do something. He visits Jelov who's finished the seven markers and meets with Wiskeria. He tells her that he needs to get the markers planted about 4 miles around the village and she tells him that it would be possible if Durene went with the Windfrozen riders. He orders her to see it done despite her hesitance. As Laken mulls on the thought that more of the silver-ranks might have known about Sacra he feels the first totempole enter the ground. He counts out as each marker is places with Prost watching him. Once the sixth is in place Laken staggers and now has an expanded view of his territory. He spots the Goblins with his new sight about to ambush Durene. Laken commands the Goblin aiming at Durene to stop and it's enough to disrupt the Goblin and allow the riders to escape. Laken then sends a command to the Hob in the group to leave but he just looks towards the village before meeting up with the other Hob.

Durene wakes Laken from his viewing of the Goblins and he finds himself lying in Prost's house. He immediately orders the adventurer's to gather so they can drive the Goblins out. Laken tells Wiskeria there's 64 Goblins and 2 Hobs and Wiskeria tells him that's too many for them to take. Laken tells them that the Goblins are now on their way to attack Riverfarm with a group of 23 splitting off to flank the village. Wiskeria suggests having the Windfrozen Riders tae care of the flanking group alongside a few villagers with bows. After planning the defense Wiskeria apologises to Laken about Odveig and Laken asks her how likely they are to survive. She tells him it's possible but the villagers might be too scared to fight.

Around midnight the Goblins begin the attack. The Hob breaks down the barricade as the Goblins try to swarm the villagers. Wiskeria's dueling a [Shaman] when the Hob tries to attack the villagers, Laken tries to command him to stop but it isn't enough to stop the Hob from killing a villager. Laken tries to command the Hob again but it doesn't do anything and all he can do is watch as the villagers are pushed back and the adventurers killed. The villagers begin to die and Laken names each one as they do.

Laken begins shouting at the Hob and commands it to kneel, this time it falters but then it swings at Laken but cuts down Gamel instead. Something changes and Laken wills the bleeding to stop. He makes him stand up and fight and Gamel does. Laken commands the people of Riverfarm to fight for their Emperor and does not give them permission to die. They begin to fight back heedless of their wounds. As the [Shaman] is about to finish off Wiskeria the Mossbear, summoned by her, charges at the Goblin. Durene fights the Hob and manages to smash the Hob with her club. Durene begins to attack the smaller Goblins and their morale breaks and they begin to flee, the Windfrozen Riders appear and manage to kill all the fleeing Goblins. Laken collapses with the battle over.

The villagers are all injured, less dead than expected and most are being given healing potions. Laken finds Gamel, on the edge of life, and Laken apolgises for what he did to him. Gamel disagrees and thanks his [Emperor] for saving them. 31 dead and 46 injured but some lived through their injuries because Laken commanded them to. Laken apologises to Prost for taking away the vilalgers will during the battle but Prost just tells him that they are his servants and that he gave them hope. Wiskeria tells Laken that she can't go back to Riverfarm after feeling Laken's will and Laken asks her to be hig [General], a [Witch General] if she has to and doesn't want to give up her class. Laken becomes a level 15 [Emperor] and learns [Empire: Art of the Builder] and [Undying Loyalty].

Day 70

Wiskeria becomes a Level 4 [General], Durene, Prost and all the villagers level. They spend time burying the dead before Laken tells Durene that him bestowing classes wasn't his idea. Laken concludes that some classes are just better than others because it sounds like Tyrion Veltras has two classes of skills packed into one. He decides to make Gamel his [Knight] and wants to offer [Captain] to Beniar or possible [Cataphract] if possible. Laken then tells Durene that someone gave him advice but plans to tell her more in detail later when he senses a runner's arrival. The runner has a letter from a Lady Rie inviting the [Emperor] to her estate a few miles away, then the runner hands more letters to Laken from [Merchants] and a [Lord]. Laken mutters that everything is happening exactly as he was told it would.
