Chapter 4.20 E

Wiskeria Donamia is a [Witch of Law], a Silver-ranked adventurer, and a former member of the Celestial Trackers. She now serves as a [General], under Emperor Laken Godart.

Appearance[edit | edit source]

She is a young woman with dark hair, closer to black, but the faintest bit blue at the roots,[2] and yellowish green eyes.[3] She wears glasses,[4] a simple and ordinary blue robes that are more like dark cobalt, and a pointed hat is the same color. For footwear she wears decent work-boots.[2] She has handprint-shaped burns on her arms.[5]

Her voice is quiet, smooth, and precise, giving off the impression that she has had some kind of formal education.[6]

Personality[edit | edit source]

Wiskeria can best described as a sensible young woman, which is in itself unnerving, given that she is the daughter of Belavierr the Stitch Witch, a terrifying immortal witch. She has a strong sense of right and wrong, evident by her distress at her mother killing people.[7] She is competent, quiet, well-spoken and straight-forward, and can adapt quickly to shocking news or developing situations.[8] Wiskeria is intelligent, with Laken speculating that she was the brains behind her adventurer group. She is confident in battle and leading, which resulted in Laken making her [General] of his army. However, she briefly experienced a crisis of faith in her own abilities after being tricked to charge the enemy, leading to the deaths of hundreds of her troops.[9]

As a child, she was spoiled by her mother - a nigh-powerful witch - who indulged her daughter's every whim and fancy, such as fishing a giant shark for lunch, and rarely told her to do anything. Combined with the fact that Belavierr is someone whose primary motivation for interacting with other people is by taking advantage of their emotional state to make dark eldritch deals, it is no surprise that Wiskeria grew up with a sense of entitlement, a lack of moral sense, and little to no clue on how to interact with the average person. For instance, at the tender age of twelve, she stabbed another boy's eye out during an argument, and was puzzled when he cried.[10] Through her friendship with the Griffin Prince and years of studying other people's behavior, Wiskeria developed her public persona of a seemingly unremarkable, ordinary [Witch]. However, she still has difficulty understanding people's emotions and motivations, and becomes anxious when her character slips. Additionally, she has trouble differentiating the nuance of emotional or social matters, such as when she suggested chopping off a man's testicle as punishment for cheating on his fiancée.[11]

Being taught by the greatest [Witch] alive, Wiskeria's knowledge of witch magic and rituals far exceeds the average and even the better-than-usual [Witch]. Having witnessed her mother's great acts of magic, she is jaded to lesser magics, to the point that she was unimpressed by Valeterisa Imarris's feat of lifting a Walled City hundreds of feet in the air. Despite being "the greatest heir to their class," she refuses to use her knowledge of the old ways. While her craft of law initially stemmed out of her desire to defeat her mother, she finds the concept of law to be genuinely beautiful.

Background[edit | edit source]

Belavierr catching a shark for Wiskeria by Brack

As a child, Wiskeria was the victim of some accident when Belavierr found her and adopted her. Belavierr has been teaching her all of her witchcraft secrets since Wiskeria was six years old. Belavierr would answer all of her questions and fulfill all of her requests.

At twelve years old, she met the Griffin Prince. The two had an argument that escalated to violence, and she gouged out his eye. Belavierr restored it, and they were introduced to Kaliv's court. She and the prince would become friends over two years. She convinced him that Belavierr would fulfil his request at Wiskeria's behest, resulting in the prince's condition.[10] That day, seeing her mother for what she truly was, she gained her [Witch] class at 14 years old.[12]

Wiskeria enlisted on a ship as a sailor to travel to Izril. Once there she became a Silver-ranked adventurer and joined the Marchlands Coven, which Mavika was a part of.[13]

Chronology[edit | edit source]

Volume 4[edit | edit source]

Wiskeria was the subordinate to Odveig, the leader of the Silver-rank team, the Celestial Trackers. Laken suspected that Odveig felt threatened by Wiskeria, despite Wiskeria's disinterest in leading. She contributed her brains and intellect to the Celestial Trackers, and was regarded as a leader in her own right alongside Odveig, as noted by Laken. While Odveig and the leader of the other Silver-rank team, Beniar of the Windfrozen Riders, gaped at the reveal of Laken's [Emperor] class, Wiskeria was quick to adapt to the news. She observed Laken with measured curiousity.[8]

Possessions[edit | edit source]

Witch Hat[edit | edit source]

A dark blue pointed hat, sewn by Belavierr. It was made when a tearful six year old Wiskeria was afraid of being lost and not finding her mother, who could be forgetful. So a Tracking Enchantment was put on it while being sewn, and ever since that day, Wiskeria had never been lost again.[9] It has five known enchantments:

  • Tracking: The hat's main enchantment. By tossing the hat up, it will be blown by a breeze and flow to were Belavierr is.[9]
  • Durability and Protections: Can take on a [Fireball] without burning and can't be knocked off Wiskeria's head.[9] It also has several enchantments that protect Wiskeria from harm.[14]
  • Size Adjustment: Grows along with Wiskeria to always fit her head.[9]
  • Communication: Can be used to contact and speak with Belavierr. When Belavierr's voice comes from it, it is described as a whisper or a hiss, with a sibilant tone, like the voice a spider might make, if only a spider could speak. If Belavierr wanted to she can make it actually opened up a mouth full of stitched thread and actually spike from it.[15]
  • Object Teleportation: While not confirmed, it is possible to teleport small objects, like a baked cake, to Belavierr, by putting them in the hat.[11]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Like all [Witches]. she always wears her pointed hat, even when indoors or taking a bath.[16]

Quotes[edit | edit source]

  • (To Laken) “I am…amazed, your majesty. I hope my team has not offended you in any way. Odveig was worrying, and I think Beniar is afraid to speak with you.”
  • (To Sacra) “There’s not much to understand. A traitor and a spy is a traitor and a spy, no matter how well you think you knew her.”
  • To Durene:
    • “Not my hat! My hat stays where it is! A [Witch] has to have her hat!”
    • Stupid girls do that! No [Witch] I know will dance about naked anywhere! In a forest? Do you want insects biting you everywhere?”
  • (To Durene) “Food’s important. But this will be magic, Durene. I swear it by my fingers. If I lie, you can feed them to Bismarck. I swear it by the dead. It may look like fun and games, but I swear there’s magic here, by a [Witch]’s name.”
  • (To Belavierr) “Ryoka’s not putting me in any danger. And I’m fine in Riverfarm. I’ve been fine since I left. I don’t need your help. If I get into trouble, I get into trouble.”
  • (Chanting) “Come, fire. Burn hot! To punish a [Witch] whose heart she has forgot! Blaze, rage, from failed justice spark! Grant me fire to purge my mother’s dark!
  • (To Belavierr) “I will never be a [Witch] like you. I will be something else. Something better. And I swear I will stop you. Even if it takes me my entire life, I will become a [Witch] who can end what you do! That is my craft! And this is my magic!
  • To Belavierr:
    • “Mother. Mother, what’s this about? Calm down. I’ve never heard you actually raise your voice like this. Are you attacking little girls, mother?”
    • Don’t use your voice on me, mother. I’m not a child! And this isn’t a girl who pushed me—”
    • Three relics? More? Your eye? Okay. Okay. No, I will not join you in vengeance. It sounds like your fault. I want you to call off vengeance on Mrsha. Forswear.”
    • “I’m asking you as your daughter. Yes. Yes, through Ryoka, who’s made threats…don’t you dare. Forswear vengeance! What do you mean, a ‘pact’? We’re family. Can’t you do one thing without—fine!”
    • “Fine. I’ll write you a letter. Two letters every four months, at least. That’s my offer. At least two hundred words each. Deal?”
    • “Okay. Okay. I’ll bake you something too. With love. Yes, mine. I’ll add a drop. Do we have a deal?”
  • To Elaiere:
    • “Elaiere, you can’t let him get away with this. This is more than just being unfaithful! He made a promise to you! An oath of love! You have to resolve this.”
    • “For someone who breaks the vow of love? You could break his legs.”
    • “And love demands a price. He’s broken his word. You were going to get married! Demand fair recompense, Elaiere. Demand…I don’t know, one of his testicles.”
  • (To something) “Where are you? Where are you? Come out and face me, come out from where you hide. Let you or I come to blood and one of us now dies.
  • (To Erin) “We truly are different. I think, Erin, that I don’t have much more to teach you. But I should like to be friends. Either that or the best of enemies.”
