Second Mate Sailor

Interlude – Strategists at Sea (Pt. 1)

Inky is the child of a Drowned Person and a Human, making her a Part-Drowned Person, in her case being Part Octopus. She works as a [Storm Sailor].

Appearance

She is short, as [Sailors] went, and has dark skin tanned from the sun, with a Human face, two normal arms, and a left normal leg. Due to being Part-Drowned with octopus parts, she has a right tentacle-leg, a cephalopod’s beak as a second mouth in her mouth, and suckers on her hands and on the soles of her feet.

She has two gold-capped teeth, and wears a [Sailor]’s garb, relatively lightweight and not entangling to avoid issues for swimming, with sleeves and leggings rolled up, crusted with salt. The cloth legging for the right leg is cut out to help her octopus-leg stand on.[1]

Quotes

  • (To Peki) “Oi, you salt-brained sack of scum! Don’t you learn? Watch the boom!
  • (To Wil) “What beauty? This is it. The sea’s as lovely as a blade. Without the danger—there’d be nothing.”
  • (To Venaz) “Mister Sea Cow, you’ve come to the right place.”
  • (To Venaz) “Sea Cow, you think that’s all there is to it? We might not be able to outdrink Minotaurs, but—we have a stiff glass of whiskey for breakfast. We’re always drunk. You’ve never talked to me when I’m not partly sloshed.”
  • (To Wil) “Obviously I was tellin’ the truth, Lord Kallinad. But the drink makes it better. Think you’d get [Sailors] willing to stare at the sea for hours sober?
  • (To Lasc) “Cap’n! We’re going to be destroyed! I just saw a wave ten times the size of our ship! We’ll be flying if we continue on!”
