Unicorns

From The Wandering Inn Wiki

Unicorns are a mythical and magical breed of horses that is believed to be nearly extinct in Innworld.

Physiology[edit | edit source]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Physical Quality[edit | edit source]

Unicorns are one of the immortal species.

The horn of a Unicorn can regrow if it's broken off.[1]

Magical Quality[edit | edit source]

Unicorns are highly magical beings. Their horns especially are prized for their magical potency, which gets more powerful as a Unicorn ages.[2]

History[edit | edit source]

They used to inhabit the Vale Forrest. There is only one Unicorn left alive, Taletevirion.

Related races[edit | edit source]

The Nightmares (and Night Stallions) are the very dangerous, inbred and evil "cousins" of Unicorns. They have fiery manes and leave flaming hoofprints where they run.[3] Like Bicorns, Nightmares might have twi horns.[4]

Usage[edit | edit source]

Probably all parts of a Unicorns are possible to use in magical crafting and alchemy, which is certainly a contributing factor in unicorns being so rare today. However, as the magical creatures disappeared after being hunted as alchemical ingredients, they have been replaced with other ingredients that are much easier to obtain and to use, like Sage’s Grass that was specifically bred for this purpose.[5]

So far mentioned have been:

  • Unicorn hair as an alchemical ingredient.[6]
  • Unicorn hair and horns as a core material for magical wands.[7]
  • Unicorn horns as a core for a Golem’s Heart, so that it can produced mana for itself.[8]
  • Unicorn testicles as an alchemical ingredient.[9]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Unicorns are a lot smarter than Pegasi who happens to be smarter than the average horses.[10]
  • There are Unicorns living in Avalon.[11]
  • Unlike Dragons, no weapons tailored to kill Unicorns have been made.[12]
