== Synopsis ==
Throughout the chapter Tom struggles with his [Lesser Insanity] and the voice in his head.

The [[Americans]] return as [Heroes] from their outpost to [[Paranfer]], the capital of the Blighted Kingdom.

They are escorted by [[Cirille Bitterclaw|Cirille's]] company to the palace. On the way they pass by a display of captured demons, including a [[Fearless]] and the market bazaar which contains a stall selling [[Demons|demon]] meat.

When they arrive at the palace Nershal reminds them of the rules and explains his role as Steward to the Blighted King and his main role to prevent his ageing. He invites the Americans to a state banquet with the Blighted King. At the banquet the group spots Lady [[Theras]] wearing a red dress and the chamberlain informs them that she and her sister are in mourning from a miscarriage three months ago.

They join Cirille at the banquet table who is talking about the situation with the [[Reiss|Goblin Lord]] in Izril until Tom realises that the Blighted King has called for them.
