[[Tom]] makes friends with the [[Fool]] and stops an assassination on [[Erille|Princess Erille]].

== Synopsis ==
Tom continues to hear the voice in his head throughout the chapter.

Tom and the Americans approach the Blighted King who commends the group for Richard and Emily reaching level 30. He calls Tom to step forward for his deed of [[Chapter 1.02 C|slaying a Demon raiding party alone]]. Othius asks about Tom's class and asks the Clown to perform once he hears that it's an entertainer class.

Tom uses his skills to juggle but it becomes obvious that his performance begins to bore the King. After his disappointing performance the [[Fool]] interrupts and begins to put on a performance using Tom as his foil. Tom plays along appeasing the Blighted King and entertaining [[Erille|Princess Erille]]. Othius welcomes Richard, Emily and the group to stay in the palace as heroes from another world.

The Americans later gather in Richard's room to talk about what to do, they're worried about how long they'll be allowed to stay. Richard wants to contact [[Aaron Vanwell|Blackmage]] or Wistram. Tom leaves to take a bath and begins to take out his clown costume while staring in the mirror and hearing the voice in his head.

Tom leaves his room and walks the halls and finds himself in the room of mirrors talking to himself, the Fool arrives looking to drink and invites Tom to join him and talk, becoming friends. The fool mentions that all of Erille's other siblings save [[Isodore]] have died.

The next day the Americans leave to explore the city while Tom returns to his room to sleep off his hangover. Princess Erille, who has escaped her guards, finds him alongside the Fool asking if he can teach her to back-flip, accidentally revealing that the Blighted King has sent most of the soldiers to the front. Erille's sister appears to bring Erille back.

The next evening holds another banquet, this time Richard and Emily display their skills. Tom is approached by [[Kirust]] and finds out that it's him who has been telling people about Tom's defense of the village. Tom angrily leaves the banquet and spends some time in his room practicing his knife throws.

Tom walks down the dark hall, not hearing the voice and thinking he's gone insane. He sees a light at the end of the corridor and finds a masked Demon with the Fool. The demon attacks the Fool and Tom struggles with the voice in his head as the demon opens the door to Erille's room. Tom kills the demon before a second appears which Tom manages to kill while being injured himself.

Tom tells Erille to call for help before his conciousness fades.
