Chapter 2.38 is the 43rd chapter of Volume 2. == Synopsis == From a certain courier, Lady Magnolia knew that Erin was an accomplished chess player, and challenges her for a game of chess. While she interrogates Erin about everything that she has experienced near Liscor, Magnolia also uses her [Sense Intention] skill on her opponent, until Erin notices it and challenges the [Lady] to a rematch where Magnolia uses [Sense Intention] with the full knowledge of Erin. The girl from Earth wins this one, and Magnolia talks about genius players from each continent that are possible matches for Erin. Then, Magnolia invites Erin to stay at her mansion, and puts all her Skills of persuasion into that attempt. Erin is inclined to decline, but only with her [Immortal Moment] can she beat Magnolia's commanding Skill and instead bites her tongue and flips the table instead. In another room, their discussion continues. Magnolia has to painstakingly explain to Erin that she doesn't wish to spread the news about people from Earth, and squash any spread of knowledge about Earth's weapons. Her biggest concern is that Goblins or the Antinium could acquire guns or other weapon technologies from Earth. She intends to teach the would-be adventurers downstairs a practical lesson on the danger they're in, and gives Erin some reassurances. For now, Erin will be allowed to return to her inn near Izril. == Characters == * Erin Solstice * Magnolia Reinhart * Ressa * Reynold * Possible worthy chess opponents for Erin (Mentioned Only): **an old fool (Izril) ** the world’s smallest strategist (Baleros) ** a reclusive mage (Wistram?) ** a miserable king (Blighted Kingdom?) ** a dashing and quite charming lord (Terandria) *[[Emperor of Sands|? - Young [Emperor] in Chandrar]] (Mentioned) *Orthenon / King of Destruction’s Left Hand (Mentioned) * Magnolia's eight Earthworlders (Discussed about) **Joseph (Cameo Appearance) **Rose (Cameo Appearance) **Imani (Mentioned) == Locations == * Invrisil ** Lady Magnolia's Estate == Items == * Chess board and pieces * Magnolia's favorite teapot * A Monocle that allows the user to read [Skills] and [Levels].
