Chapter 5.38 is the 41st chapter of Volume 5, and the 19th chapter of Book 8, Blood of Liscor. == tl;dr == Raskghar attack weakly during the next night and strongly during the day, capturing Gnolls including Mrsha as well as Ceria. Calruz is leading them to conquer the dungeon. == Synopsis == Erin enacts multiple plans to safeguard the inn. They welcome the adventurers back at the inn. They report that the dungeon was worryingly empty. The Horns receive some well-needed advice from Griffon Hunt on how to improve. They decide to keep the team-up. Most adventurers leave for the night and the rest prepare for another possible Raskghar attack. The Watch is manning the walls and supported by the Liscorian Army and Antinium Soldiers. The Raskghar attack at night, together with their cave goblins, but get quickly repelled. At the inn the latter get picked off by Halrac, to which the Hobs disagree and interfere. Badarrow disagrees, firing warning shots at Halrac, and Bird follows the example almost lethally. After the attack Erin is suspicious of the scale and suspects a Raskghar ruse. She also convices Halrac to talk with Bird to get the Antinium to apoligise for the exchange of arrows and why that was bad. Watch Captain Zevara and Erin butt heads over the status of the cave goblins. Bird is crushed by the revelation of his deed. Erin gets to sleep in Lyonette’s room for once while the barmaid runs the inn. After day breaks Erin reveals she’s pretty good at understanding goblin body language. Adventurers leave for the dungeon. Erin notices an odd ringing in her ears, but can’t pinpoint its cause at first. She picks up bear traps at the adventurer’s guild and has them installed. The ringing continues and she suspects its her [Dangersense]. After some discussion she tries to get hold of Olesm to get his opinion and realises on the way why only her Dangersense is ringing. The full moons are still in effect for the Raskghar, regardless of their position over or under the horizon and cloud coverage. She tries to raise the alarm, and Olesm accepts and takes over after a short explanation. The dungeon raiding teams are informed. At that time submerged and hidden Raskghar attack. They’re much more organised and equipped than before. Fighting them off is more difficult and they make off with captured gnolls. Mrsha is one of those. In the dungeon the adventuring teams are similarly under attack; trap marks have been messed with and monster are in supposedly cleared areas. As the surface Raskghar retreat, they run and fight into the back of the adventurers. One notices Ceria and knocks her out, then takes her with as it and its comrades retreat further into the dungeon. At Erin’s inn one of the attacking cave goblins was caught in a bear trap and is snatched up by Erin. After realising Mrsha is missing Erin and the returning adventurers forcefully interrogate the goblin until it spills. The Raskghar move their camps daily to avoid monsters, and their chieftain had ordered the kidnappings, and ordered Mrsha and Ceria not to be killed on the pain of death. The chieftain is described as horned and one-armed. In the dungeon Ceria wakes to Calruz’ ministrations. He considers the gnolls his prisoners and the Raskghar his team, one he’s been training. He plans to conquer the dungeon with them, and Ceria, at his side. Ceria thinks he is completely, utterly insane. == Characters == * Erin Solstice * Lyonette du Marquin * Numbtongue * Adventurers ** Earlia ** Ylawes Byres ** Falene Skystrall ** Dawil Ironbreaker ** Moore ** Jelaqua Ivirith ** Seborn ** Ksmvr ** Ceria Springwalker ** Yvlon Byres ** Pisces ** Halrac Everam ** Revi ** Typhenous ** Bevussa Slenderscale ** Gekla Raiders (Silver-rank) ** Keldrass (Identity Revealed) ** Tail of Xil (Silver-rank) (First Official Appearance) *** Fess (Deceased) *** ? - Female Drake with Pinkish Scales *** ? - Team Leader * Drassi * Headscratcher * Badarrow * Shorthilt * Rabbiteater * Pebblesnatch * Mrsha * Apista * Ishkr * Zevara Sunderscale * Olesm Swifttail * Raskghar * Cave Goblins * Bird * Pawn * Yellow Splatters * Octavia * Welfa (First Appearance) * Imissi (First Appearance) * Relc Grasstongue * Embria Grasstongue * ? - Captured Cave Goblin (First Appearance) * Captive Gnolls (First Appearance) * Calruz == Locations == * Floodplains ** The Wandering Inn ** Liscor ** Liscor's Dungeon * Stitchworks == Creatures == * Rock Crabs * Lurkersnatch Fish * Poisonous Fanged Fish * Ghouls * Face-Eater Moths + Giant One’s * A Giant thing with too many eyes and pinchers for a mouth. == Items == * Ring of Sight * Bear Traps
