In winter, they defend themselves not only by attacking their enemies with the horns, but also by creating thick fog from snow.<ref name="2.03 G">[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/06/14/2-03-g/ Chapter 2.03 G]</ref> They are considered an even more dangerous foe in the summer months, when their horns can start huge wildfires during dry seasons.

Alone, a Corusdeer is a Silver-rank threat.<ref name=":0">{{VERef|10.02 Y}}</ref> Single Corusdeer that go onto a rampage can be brought down, even by [Farmers] using pitchforks.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2019/07/27/6-34-e/ Chapter 6.34 E]</ref>

In herds, they pose a much greater danger and are rated as Gold-rank threats,<ref name="gloss" /><ref name=":0" /> and most lower level <nowiki>[</nowiki>[[Hunters]]] don't dare to go after them. Farmers and herders don't like them near their areas. For that reason, driving away<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/10/14/3-23-l/ Chapter 3.23 L]</ref> or killing Corusdeer is a common task for adventurers<ref name="5.07">[https://wanderinginn.com/2018/07/28/5-07/ Chapter 5.07]</ref>, although that depends on the size of the herd in question.
