Demons are beings affected by Rhir’s persistent corruption and manifest a variety of features from horns to extra eyes.<ref name=":Glossary" /> They are apparently from different races of origin who then mutated apparently due to exposure to whatever affects the Blighted Lands.<ref name="1.00 C" /> In that respect they seem similar to [[Drowned People]] who also each mutate differently and get traits from sea creatures.

Their appearances can be very different from each other, depending on how mutated the Demon is and what race he originated from. Curved horns like those of a ram seem to be a regular feature.<!--1.00C, 1.01C, 1.02C, 1.03C-->

A Demon whom [[Edward|Eddy]] saw and then described to [[Americans|his friends]], looked similar to a [https://www.google.de/search?q=Qunari&tbm=isch Qunari], thus appearing less like a monster, and more like a person. Other cases have a horn sticking out of their forehead, compound eyes, some kind of chitin on their upper body that looks like armor, fish-like scales, a sliming arm,<ref name=":1.01 C">[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/04/26/1-01-c/ Chapter 1.01 C]</ref> tentacles hair<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2018/05/05/1-05-c/ Chapter 1.05 C]</ref>, bright green eyes with yellow pupils, a face like leather, cloven feet<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2018/05/01/1-03-d-2/ Chapter 1.03 C]</ref> and so on.

== Behavior and Culture ==
They are capable of levelling, with many high-level individuals, and have a great deal of military intelligence. Little is known about their culture or hierarchy.<ref name=":Glossary" />

They are unable to preserve food for long due to the corrupted land they live on affecting it, even with bags of holding and magical storerooms. At best, any food will have an expiration date of one year. Demons come from a place called [[Hell]], which is located on Rhir.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/05/31/2-26/ Chapter 2.26]</ref> They've been at war with the [[Blighted Kingdom]] for thousands of years, with most of the world siding against them with their enemy.

== Relations ==
The Demons have their own kingdom and are locked in a state of permanent war against the [[Blighted Kingdom]], which they try to eradicate. Thus, the Demon Kingdom is one of four major powers on Rhir, the fourth one being the origin of monsters.<ref name="1.00 C" />

=== [[Trolls]] ===
At least in one instance, a Troll worked together with a Demon raiding group. After being scared, he stopped taking the orders of the Demon leader.<ref name=":1.01 C" />

Initially called upon to destroy the Demons, the Giants ended up siding with them. The Giants have sired Demon Giant children.

=== [[Harpies]] ===
The Harpies were one of the first allies of the Demons, siding with them against the Blighted Kingdom. Both species presently live side by side in the Demon Kingdom.

=== [[Antinium]] ===
The Demons and Antinium are nominal allies and have established pacts. Yet the Antinium of Rhir rarely make contact and do not support them against the Blighted Kingdom, because their resources are used to battle and contain the sleeping demigoddess.
