After Az’kerash learned how to make his creations Leveling, he made Devail unlike the others 5 old Chosen. He had taken only flesh and scale to make him as an experimental undead, but with his potential in mind.<ref name=":Meetings and Friendships" />
While Az’kerash, with [[Belavierr|Belavierr's]] help, was having a training session with the old Chosen in the ballroom, Devail came by to tell him that he had finished studying the books about the style of Albezian war mages. He then asked him if the he was to learn to fight now, which Az’kerash confirmed by having Devail practice duelling with him.
He would later find [[Toren]] and ask him about the broom, as cleaning makes no sense to him. He also asked him if he wants to fight, but turned away when Toren shook his head for a no.<ref name=":Meetings and Friendships" />
