== History == The House of El has made its tradition to be great crafters and artisans of magic. There was a time when they raised [Magelords] and [Spellweavers] who created the artifacts adventurers fought for, armed their armies with magic and sorcery as well as steel. The Mirror of Eternal Youth was an artifact long in the possession of the El family.<ref name="7.18M">[https://wanderinginn.com/2020/04/15/7-18-m/ Chapter 7.18 M]</ref> Over time, the El family lost most of their great artifacts however, failed in their investments and became poor. They grew poorer over the last thousand years. They are still not destitute, having retained their Estates, but their need for money has become most pressing. Policy of House El is to have a patriarch or matriarch controlling the gold of the family, and give stipends to family members who are also expected to contribute to the ongoing prosperity of the house.<ref name="7.18M" /> The El family recently started to employ [[Half-Elves]] as guardians, helpers and mentors to keep the family business steady.<ref name="7.18M" /> About 200 years ago, the [[Reinhart Family|Reinhart]] and the El family feuded against [[Oteslia]] over a dispute regarding trade from [[Chandrar]].
