El Family

From The Wandering Inn Wiki

The El Family are one of the Five Families of Izril.

Background[edit | edit source]

The El Family are one of the Five Families that came from Terandria—fleeing from Terandria, to be exact[1] and together with them are the first humans to ever settle on Izril.

History[edit | edit source]

The House of El has made its tradition to be great crafters and artisans of magic. There was a time when they raised [Magelords] and [Spellweavers] who created the artifacts adventurers fought for, armed their armies with magic and sorcery as well as steel.

The Mirror of Eternal Youth was an artifact long in the possession of the El family.[2]

Over time, the El family lost most of their great artifacts however, failed in their investments and became poor. They grew poorer over the last thousand years. They are still not destitute, having retained their Estates, but their need for money has become most pressing.

Policy of House El is to have a patriarch or matriarch controlling the gold of the family, and give stipends to family members who are also expected to contribute to the ongoing prosperity of the house.[2]

The El family recently started to employ Half-Elves as guardians, helpers and mentors to keep the family business steady.[2]

About 200 years ago, the Reinhart and the El family feuded against Oteslia over a dispute regarding trade from Chandrar. In the battle that happened in the Human lands, General Ironscales lost her life.[3]

Chronology[edit | edit source]

[Lady] Maviola El and reigning matriarch of the family recently decided to abdicate, and designated [Lord]/[Artificer] Deilan El as her successor. Maviola El also assisted in the banishment of Belavierr from Izril's north. She then took her collection of potions of temporary youth and went on to her last adventure, which would only last a few weeks before the potions would run out and Maviola would likely die, being old, fragile and disabled as she was.[2]

Known Family Members[edit | edit source]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • Maviola is the very first person of the entire El family to ever visit a Walled City.[10]
  • The Overtures of Exceeding Conduct written by Sevfia El is a famous book that despite being over 2000 years old, it is still in circulation, and it had endured to the modern day as one of the classic guides to etiquette, among Humans.[9]
