Esthelm is a Human city located in Izril. It is the furthest Human city south, on the border of Drake lands, and supplies itself by mining above all else. == Geography == It is 60 miles south from Celum and 30 miles north from Liscor. == Chronology == The former Horns of Hammerad and the other teams that took part in the expedition into the Ruins of Liscor met in Esthelm before going south to Liscor. Griffon Hunt discussed getting [Miners] from Esthelm to help dig up Liscor's Dungeon. === Destruction === At night, Esthelm was attacked and burned by the Goblin Lord's raiding party, but before they could murder everyone, Rags and her tribe intervened and killed them. Then, she ordered her tribe to loot and gather what she wanted - valuables, materials and food. She let the fleeing humans go untouched and only killed those who resisted. Nevertheless, thousands had been killed in the initial siege by the Goblin Lord's raiding troops, but over half the original population had survived, deprived of most of their food stores. === Post-Destruction === The city center with the densest building structures became a maze where darkness lingered. In that danger zone, monsters were starting to appear (like a young [[Florist|[Florist] woman]]) while the dead started rising, climbing out of the sewers, and digging themselves out of the ground. The sewers had broken in places, while many buildings had caved in during the fire. None of the human survivors left the city because of the harsh weather conditions, fears of being attacked by Goblin raiders, and the long distance to the nearest settlements. (The next large human city to the North seems to be Celum, although smaller villages/towns exist.). The outskirts and walls were the most populated areas. Survivors there were able to band together in camps and fought each other over supplies. Ten days after Esthelm's initial destruction, another vanguard of the Goblin Lord arrived and made their camp outside the city, which stopped the chance of humans escaping the city again. The Goblins would have overrun the city, had Toren not taken out their necromancer [Head Shaman]. Meanwhile, Ylawes Byres, a gold-rank adventurer, accompanied by three bronze-rank adventurers helped to gather the populace and fight back the remainder of the Goblin Lord's Army. Another helpful group acting independently were the Redfang Elite Warriors who fought against the Goblin Lord's forces and left after the army was defeated. == Rebuilding == todo: Silver Swords; Liscorian aid from Erin Overthrowing of local [Tyrant] in Volume 6 Gaining the high-level [Blacksmith], Pelt, in Volume 7 == Layout == Esthelm is a small city. It is still larger than a town, but only just. After it was sacked by Goblins, the city was restored and built stronger and higher. === <u>Landmarks</u> === * [[Florist|[Florist] Statue]] (Located in the Plaza) === <u>Buildings</u> === ==== Guilds: ==== * Adventurer's Guild * Runner’s Guild ==== Tavern: ==== * Dancer’s === Streets: === * Bezoar Street (At the Right of the [Florist] statue) == Trivia == * Esthelm was founded nearly a century before the events of The Wandering Inn.8.01 * The road that goes to Liscor is located near Esthelm. * After its destruction, some bands of men reveled in their own twisted freedom to do as they pleased grabbing young women and fighting each other. == References == <references />
