The '''Flying Antinium''' are a variation of the [[Antinium]], created and ruled by the [[Flying Queen]].

== Overview ==
There are many different variants of Flying Antinium, because the Flying Queen keeps experimenting with their flawed forms: None of them can actually fly, but they are good at jumping into the air and then gliding on their wings.<ref name="7.19">[https://wanderinginn.com/2020/04/26/7-19/ Chapter 7.19]</ref> This makes them cover a lot of ground very fast, like a hopping form of cavalry.<ref name="3.23L" /> They like the outdoors.<ref>{{VERef|10.23 LMGY}}</ref>

Known variations are:
* Regular Warrior: four wings, two arms, eight eyes, elongated body that hunches forward. Spitting acid/poison may be a speciality of [[Pivr]], who resembles this type.<ref name="3.23L" />
* Heavy-combat Warrior variant: thicker carapace plates, huge wings, horn like a beetle, sharp prongs<ref name="3.23L" />
* Regular Worker: Yellow, brown or black carapace, green wings, six limbs, four used for locomotion. Likened to flies.

== History ==
There were once "True" Flying Antinium, before the entire fleet almost entirely perished upon leaving [[Rhir]]. The new Flying Antinium are regarded as "half-baked copies" of the original ones, but are still the best that the Hives can produce.<ref name="3.34">[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/12/02/3-34/ Chapter 3.34]</ref> These were deployed during the Second Antinium War.

When the Flying Queen sent Pivr to investigate the [[Free Antinium]] hive in Liscor with a delegation of six more Warriors, she gave orders that he should make a show of force by entering the city publicly. During his second visit at the Free Hive, Pivr gifted two Flying Antinium workers to the Free Queen for live vivisection on orders of his Queen. [[Garry]] rescued them from this fate and the workers entered in his employ instead.<ref name="7.19" />

Silent Antinium were among the forces from the Hivelands gathered to assist the inn defenders on the Winter Solstice.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2023/11/19/9-65/ Chapter 9.65]</ref> They clashed with the phantoms in the sky. When [[Sheta]] gathered an army of Izril's flying creatures, the Flying Antinium where among those she called. They seemed to ask for a soul, which she couldn't give them as they already posessed one. She instead gave them two blessings, one of flight and one of spirit. Tens of thousands of Flying Antinium thus gained the ability of full-fledged flight in the aftermath of the battle.<ref>{{VERef|10.36 - (Pt. 2)}}</ref>
