The Gaarh Marsh Tribe is one of the oldest and most well known Gnoll tribe. ==Overview== The Gaarh Marsh Tribe is one of the most venerable and traditional Gnoll tribe that still exists. They are famous for the ancient Earth Elemental that accompanies them. They have the oldest [Shaman] among all the Gnoll tribes, who convenes the meeting of Chieftains. Their tribe's greatest warriors are the [Marsh-Guardians of Gaarh]. They live close to nature and prefer to occupy swampy terrain, and so build waterproof huts.Grass becomes fertile where they stay, and the ground becomes muddy. While they love nature, they are also well aware of its dangers and warn imprudent cubs against touching every plant, even if they're beautiful. Gaarh Marsh children do not color their fur like Weatherfur Tribe does, but they do have little animal friends that they care for. They have no care about getting dirty while playing. ==Background== After the Time of Hiding, where Gnolls reemerged from the underground possibly tens of thousands of years ago, those that would form the Gaarh Marsh Tribe entered the swamps and marshes. Those were much bigger back then, as the Drakes hadn't yet dredged the land. They struck a bargain with the heart of nature and the first guardians, the Earth Elementals, became their mentors and defenders. How the bargain was worded and where it was struck has been lost from their memories. Four hundred and sixty years ago was the last time the Gaarh Marsh Tribe tried to harvest plants from the Bloodfields. It has since been deemed too dangerous to attempt again. ==Chronology== When Zel Shivertail made arrangements for the surviving children of the Stone Spears Tribe to be taken care of, the Gaarh Marsh Tribe would end up being the one to foster them. The Gaarh Marsh Tribe escorted five other tribes to the Meeting of the Tribes, including the Inknight Tribe and the Demas Metal Tribe.Once they arrived they would set up camp and show their speciality to visitors. They asked other tribes to send their young and old to their own, to create a new tribe and send it to settle in Chandrar. When the Raskghars arrived at the Meeting, the tribe tried to calm Khoteizetrough's wrath before it killed them, until Ulcreziek's appearance stopped it. Shaman Theikha, oldest [Shaman] among the tribes, presided over the the first meeting of Chieftains. When it was discovered that something was blocking Ferkr's magic, Theikha first tried to force through the counterforce, then called on Khoteizetrough, who dug up and destroyed the crystal of magicore that used to be part of Fissival's teleportation network. They were one of the tribes Satar Silverfang questioned when investigating Doombringer stories. At a later meeting, Theikha harnessed the magic of the Meeting of the Tribes to help create the combination Skill [The World of You and Me]. When the Drake armies advanced on the Meeting, Gaarh Marsh stayed behind to defend the noncombatants rather than go out to battle. Meanwhile Mrsha would meet with the other Stone Spears children in the Gaarh Marsh camp. When Plain's Eye Doomslayers came to kill her, Khoteizetrough killed them and declared Mrsha to be a Doombearer. In the ensuing debate between tribes, Gaarh Marsh sided with protecting Mrsha, alongside others including Weatherfur and Silverfang. When the Gnoll civil war ensued, Khoteizetrough sacrificed itself to counter the [Grand Ritual] spell that Plain's Eye unleashed. When the Walled Cities used their secret weapon to strike Khelt's army, Theikha shielded the tribes from the part of the magical blast aimed at them. ==Specialties== The tribe grows rare plants from the marshes. At the Meeting of the Tribes, their [Shamans] demonstrate their craft in displays called blooming sights. It consists of placing down seeds and making them bloom into great, vivid orchids. They show the uses for various plants, demonstrate how to make dyes out of them, and give out seeds. They also remember some of the oldest Gnoll stories. ==Members== *Theikha - [Shaman of Tribe and Plain], semi-retired *Khoteizetrough (Deceased) - Earth/Swamp Elemental *? - Chieftain *Perbne - [Chief Shaman] ==Trivia== *Their [Shamans] maintain the the Bloodfields have sprouted from ancestor-seeds similar to theirs. ==References== <references />
