The '''Naga Incursions''', or the '''Foothold Wars''' as referred to by the [[Lizardfolk]], was a war between [[Drakes]] and Lizardfolk that took place more than a hundred years ago. == Overview ==
The war occurred when the Naga Companies of Baleros invaded southern [[Izril]] and took ground. The Drakes were simultaneously at war with the Humans and refused to ask the [[Gnolls|Gnoll]] Tribes for aid. Zelkyr, then a [Golem Artificer], sold his Battle Golems to the cities to fight them off. As the Drakes grew increasingly desperate to repel the Nagas, they hired non-Drake mercenaries. Zelkyr created his first Sentient-class golem, [[Cognita]], and decided to actively participate in the war as part of a [[Fissival]] army.
In one engagement, this army was cut off behind enemy lines, and only Zelkyr's golems let this force survive, being immune to the Medusae's eyes. They were rescued by [[Az’kerash|Perril Chandler]] and his mercenary company, who were similarly cut off. They would team up from this point, and the combination of powerful golems and massed undead forces would prove effective against the Nagas, and they fought their way out of enemy lines. Their actions would force one of the piece treaties. The war lasted long enough for Zelkyr and Perril to claim the titles of Archmage, over twenty years. Zelkyr would then upgrade Cognita into his first Truestone Golem. Both Archmages would engage the Nagas. The Naga [Archmage], the Archmage of Waters, fought on the side of the Nagas at the time, but was slain by Cognita.
The war ended in Drake victory, as the Lizardfolk were driven off of the continent and back to Baleros.<ref name=":0" />
