The air in the New Lands is mana-negative, draining non-artifact quality items faster and preventing [Mages] from naturally replenishing their full mana capacity.<ref name=":0">{{VERef|Chapter 10.02 Y}}</ref> Because of this feature, undead are less of a threat as they collapse from the lack of mana soon after rising,<ref name=":3">{{VERef|10.39 YN}}</ref> and there is an increased presence of ghosts, as they aren't ejected from the undead bodies due to the mana drain.
