== Overview == Potionmaking has been a somewhat detailed topic in some chapters like [https://wanderinginn.com/2017/04/14/2-12/ Chapter 2.12] (Ryoka in Octavia's shop) and [https://wanderinginn.com/2019/08/20/6-39/ Chapter 6.39] (Numbtongue in Octavia's shop). Potions become stronger when brewed by high leveled [Alchemists]. For instance if [[Saliss Oliwing|Saliss]], a high-Level [Alchemist], makes a low-grade Potion of Barkskin, its strengthen effects would be close to a lesser Potion of Ironscales.<ref name=":Saliss the Adventurer">[https://wanderinginn.com/2020/11/04/interlude-saliss-the-adventurer/ Interlude - Saliss the Adventurer]</ref> Potions have a wide range of effectiveness and highly varied results due to every [Alchemist] creating their potions differently, as a consequence of a lack of standardisation, secrecy about ingredients and methods, and the use of Skills.<ref name=":2" /> The magic in potions makes them resistant to freezing. If the magic is drained, the potion will become useless, and no longer have this property.<ref>{{VERef|10.03 Y}}</ref> === Taste === In most cases [Alchemists] can not make Potions taste good at all with some being so bad that they make you throw up before you could down them. It is also impossible to add something like a flavor to potions without creating an entirely different effect, like adding a bit of lemon juice to some to make them taste better only for the entire thing to coat you in poisonous foam.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/04/14/2-12/ Chapter 2.12]</ref> This turns out to not be completely true as [[Fraerlings]] know how to make them taste good.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2021/06/08/interlude-luan-the-giant/ Interlude β Luan the Giant]</ref>
