Potionmaking has been a somewhat detailed topic in some chapters like [https://wanderinginn.com/2017/04/14/2-12/ Chapter 2.12] (Ryoka in Octavia's shop) and [https://wanderinginn.com/2019/08/20/6-39/ Chapter 6.39] (Numbtongue in Octavia's shop).

Potions become stronger when brewed by high leveled [Alchemists]. For instance if [[Saliss Oliwing|Saliss]], a high-Level [Alchemist], makes a low-grade Potion of Barkskin, its strengthen effects would be close to a lesser Potion of Ironscales.<ref name=":Saliss the Adventurer">[https://wanderinginn.com/2020/11/04/interlude-saliss-the-adventurer/ Interlude - Saliss the Adventurer]</ref>

Potions have a wide range of effectiveness and highly varied results due to every [Alchemist] creating their potions differently, as a consequence of a lack of standardisation, secrecy about ingredients and methods, and the use of Skills.<ref name=":2" />
