Even after Liscor grew large enough to warrant fielding multiple Watch Captains, Zevara is the name that people think of first whenever the title is mentioned.

== Personality ==
With Liscor experiencing one crisis after the other, Zevara serves as the grounded, respected authority figure responsible for keeping peace and order within the city. At her core, Zevara possesses a strong sense of justice and integrity. As a firm believer in the law and procedure, she is stubbornly committed to doing her job correctly, refusing to take bribes or convenient shortcuts. She was more wilder in her youth, resorting to thievery as a young Drake girl, and admitted to being "a worse [Guardswoman]." When she became [Watch Captain], she was determined to hold herself to a higher standard.<ref>{{VERef|10.44 Z (Pt. 1)}}</ref> 

Zevara is often exasperated when dealing with the "[[Erin Solstice|Crazy Human Innkeeper of Liscor]]," or [[Relc Grasstongue]]'s antics. Dealing with the chaos of The Wandering Inn has caused her to become desensitized to what others would consider extraordinary. She has attempted to arrest an [[Valeterisa Imarris|[Archmage]]]<ref>{{VERef|Conversations – Interlude}}</ref> and a [[Saliss Oliwing|Named Adventurer]]<ref>{{VERef|9.21}}</ref> for disturbing the peace, or ordered Liscor's wall spells to be fired on two of the [[Seven]] - individuals whom entire nations fear to confront.<ref>{{VERef|Halfseekers (Pt. 8) – Interlude}}</ref> 

Having spent years as the sole Watch Captain - effectively being one of the few truly functional pillars of civic authority in a city reliant on an absent mercenary army and ineffectual Councilmembers, she has become a consummate workaholic, having only taken six weeks of leave across ten years. Consequently, she has no personal life and has no clue what to do on her day off. 

== Background ==
Originally a Senior Guardswoman, Zevara reported her former Watch Captain Eresc to the Council after he ignored someone killing Antinium Workers due to his own hatred for Antinium.<ref>[[Interlude – Senior Guardsman Relc|Interlude - Senior Guardsman Relc]]</ref> She replaced Eresc as Watch Captain, serving for six years before the start of the story.<ref name=":0">[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/10/07/3-21-l/ Chapter 3.21 L]</ref>

== Chronology ==
Erin met her the first time after the death of [[Klbkch]], which was reason for Zevara to retract any protection from the Wandering Inn.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2016/11/13/1-26/ Chapter 1.26]</ref>

Zevara was then seen again in [[Skinner's Attack on Liscor]], when she led the scrambled defense after the [[Undead]] had already invaded the city. Her duty to protect the city let her stop Relc going after Skinner and fight Undead in the city even after Skinner had left for the Wandering Inn.<ref name="1.44" /> Zevara then met Erin again in a debrief at the [[First Wandering Inn|Old Wandering Inn]] after the attack.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/03/15/2-02/ Chapter 2.01]</ref>

Just the next day, Zevara faced Erin and Ryoka after they had exited from the [[Ruins of Liscor]] with a rescued Ceria and [[Olesm Swifttail|Olesm]]. Her intention was to use their knowledge to loot and secure the ruins. She is at first still opposed to helping the surviving adventurers, but reluctantly offers help when she discovers that Olesm had joined their expedition and survived. However, the appearance of [[Gazi]] changed the entire encounter. Gazi starts a fight with everyone present by stabbing Zevara and was only defeated after being distracted with the news of the [[Flos Reimarch|King of Destruction's]] awakening.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/03/28/2-06/ Chapter 2.05]</ref>

Three days later, when Erin was loudly yelling for Toren as she had lost her skeleton during the explosion and rebuilding of her inn just outside Zevara's jurisdiction, Zevara stepped in and told the noisy human to shut up.<ref name="2.11">[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/04/13/2-11/ Chapter 2.11]</ref>

Two days later, Zevara's authority was challenged again by the iPhone festival happening at the Wandering Inn, where she couldn't prevent the singing and dancing.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/04/22/2-16/ Chapter 2.17]</ref>

After [[Krshia]] captured Lyonette, it was decided that the human thief would be exiled instead of being executed. While Zevara was clearly involved in this decision, it was not shown directly and the political nature of the event meant that it also involved the enraged Gnoll community and the City Council.<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/05/07/2-20/ Chapter 2.23]</ref>

Not many days later, Zevara had to break up a fight between Erin and her patrons, the Gnolls and two gold-rank adventuring teams at the Wandering Inn.<ref name="2.26" />

== Powers and Abilities ==
She is able to breathe fire, due to her Oldblood Drake ancestry. However, she is unable to breathe while using it, due to lack of oxygen, and can only manage up to ten seconds of firebreath before it feels like she is passing out.<ref name="1.44">[https://wanderinginn.com/2017/03/01/1-44/ Chapter 1.44]</ref><ref name="2.26" />

Zevara doesn't have a [Loud Voice] skill, and regrets not having that Skill.<ref name="2.26" /> She can make do with spells or items if she has time to prepare.<ref name="2.11" />
