The Silent Antinium are a variation of the Antinium, created and ruled by the Silent Queen.
Appearance[edit | edit source]
Silent Antinium resemble a cross between a mantis and an ant. They have scythes for arms and scuttle on four legs.[1]
Abilities[edit | edit source]
Silent Antinium are specialized for infiltration, ambush and assassinations. They're also good at finding traps, mundane and magical. They possess natural adaptive camouflage. It can trigger automatically, and renders them virtually invisible.[1] They're even able to foil [Detect Life] spells.[2]
Their scythes are razor-sharp, comparable to enchanted blades. They can swiftly and easily dismember targets with great precision.[3]
As the Silent Queen is the best Shaper of Izril's Antinium Queens, every Silent Antinium is a masterpiece by their standards.[1]
Weaknesses[edit | edit source]
While sharp, their scythes are also brittle. And as the blades are specially treated, they do not regrow even if the Antinium's restorative gel was applied. The Silent Hive doesn't invest in restorative gels anyway, as the Silent Queen did not believe they would live long enough to justify that investment of resources if they're ever injured. And since they do not have hands, they need help from other Antinium to feed themselves.[4]
History[edit | edit source]
Silent Antinium were deployed in the Second Antinium War to assassinate high value targets. They were opposed by the Assassin's Guild in what would be called the War of Sighs. Casualties were estimated to be extremely high on both sides, but while the Guild had yet to fully recover in the south, the Silent Hive could replenish its numbers much more easily.[2]
Silent Antinium have been sent to retrieve Klbkch's swords whenever they were stolen, assassinating whoever had them in their possession.[5]
No Silent Antinium were initially sent to the Free Hive like the Grand, Flying, and Armored Hives had done. Some were sent later when the tunnel to the Hivelands was built,[6] and they helped support future pushes into the Dungeon.[1]
Silent Antinium were deployed during the war between Liscor and the Hectval alliance to rescue Crusader 53. They were present in the conflict from that point on, though the Prognugators denied their involvement, and they weren't allowed to show themselves.[3]
Silent Antinium were among the forces from the Hivelands gathered to assist the inn defenders on the Winter Solstice.[7] They struck the undead from behind when they attacked Liscor.[8] After the battle, they clashed with the Ranks of Roshal trying to abduct certain people in Liscor.[9]
