Ryoka is having a bad day, and so is Madain. She and Fierre has breakfast somewhere else and Ryoka decides to take it easy today. As she stops at her first client to deliver something, she sees a corn field and a scarecrow… no, it was a human. She watches him shoot a crow and the rest fly away in fear. The two talk, before Ryoka reveals her “bad day” to him and he relates with her. They bond as Ryoka gets a few corn to take with her and she finishes the rest of her work. As she’s on her way home, a knight shouts after her. She runs away but stops, exhausted. After confirming her identity, the knight asks her if she can deliver a letter. After a bit of back of forth, Ryoka agrees. The next day, she heads to the runners guild, having declined Fierre’s offer to open it. She realizes something is off when a lot of runner plan on delivering something around the same time. And as they all run together to the same place, the feeling gets worse. As Bethal opens the door, curious why so many runners had arrived at her place, they reveal their delivery. A black rose. And Bethal is furious and more. She tells them the meaning before telling the ones standing behind her to prepare. And then she tells the runner to tell their clients that “this is war”.
