Chronology[edit | edit source]

Volume 8[edit | edit source]

Oredien arrives in the village of Ysai, Baleros to do the delivery of a Purewater Pearl to the [Jeweler] Sitq the Setter. Maelstorm's Howling and the Iron Vanguard are both competing to deliver the pearl first in order to be the first to bid on the Band of Eight artifact the jeweler is making. Though Maelstorm Howling finds the first pearl, Iron Vanguard has already contracted Oredien's services. Desperate, Maelstorm Howling agree with Luan's request to take the delivery.[1]

Oredien and Luan agree to the race, though the Iron Vanguard is displeased with this agreement, and Wistram is contacted to televise the competition. Despite using his skills Oredien rapidly falls behind. The Iron Vanguard deploys three sculls in an attempt to trap Luan and secure victory, however they fail. Luan then takes his scull overland and crashes into the jewelers shop - winning the race.[1]

  • (To Luan) “Excuse me. May I ask your name? I am Oredien, Courier. They call me the Wave Runner. I think I know you. I thought you were dead.”
  • (To Dullahan’s leader) “Don’t be upset. I intend to fulfill my contract; but it’s poor sport for a Courier to turn down a race. Think of it as publicity. See?”
  • (To Luan) “You Human [Trickster]. You were already a Courier or something, weren’t you?”
