The Pride of the Wellfar is considered to be the greatest ship based in Izril. It is owned and Captained by the Wellfar Family.[1]

Background[edit | edit source]

The Pride of the Wellfar is a Citadel-class ship and can contain thousands of soldiers belowdecks. It is capable of destroying Dragonships and has done so in the past. The ship is currently equipped with Dragonsails. [2]

At half power, the ship is capable of doing 40 knots in shallow water and can achieve faster speeds further out to sea.[2]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

The Pride has red Dragonsails with the Wellfar crest on them. The figurehead on its prow is a merfolk.[3]

Abilities[edit | edit source]

  • Curse of the Wellfar - Manipulates space around the ship. The ocean water turns flat and all attacks rebound into their attacker. This is a known ability as Rasea Zecrew knows to avoid it when it was deployed against the Illuminary.[2]
  • Shields - The ship can deploy a multi-layered defensive shield. The layered shields are at least 3 deep.[2] If they go down, mithril shields can be deployed to protect the ship.[3]
  • Will o’ Waves - Requires hydromancers to funnel power into reservoirs located below-deck. The enchantment causes the water to push the ship forward.[2]
  • Attack Spells - The ship possesses spells like a ray of light that destroyed the Assassin's Guild in First Landing, and can break through the magical protections of a Drowned Ship or equivalent. Other spells in its arsenal include [Grand Lightning].[3]
  • Artillery - The Pride has enchanted ballistae installed. They can fire Firespray Bolts and ballistae-sized Vortex Bolts, though the latter are in limited supply.[3]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • When Pride of the Wellfar engaged the Illuminary and Captain Seagrass' Fleet in Chapter 8.40 CTV the Pride of the Wellfar impacted against a destroyed ship for a collision speed of over 100 knots. The result was that only one of the deployed defensive barriers was left intact.[2]
