From The Wandering Inn Wiki

Quotes/Thoughts[edit | edit source]

Volume 2[edit | edit source]

  • (Thoughts) If they died, they all died together. It was better than dying alone and starving.
  • (To Garen) I am Goblin. I am small. But I look down upon you all.
  • (To Garen) It was not fair. You let me win.
  • (To Garen) Others have name for me. “Rags.”

Volume 3[edit | edit source]

  • (To Gold Stone Chief) This place. Tribe. Is strong? (Really Asking = ‘How dangerous is this tribe? Are they likely to betray us? Why has Garen taken us here, and what can I expect?’
  • (To Gold Stone Chief) “I…Chieftain. I always…Chieftain!”
  • (To Tremborag) I am Chieftain here. Not Garen Redfang. I have come with my tribes here. I am Chieftain! Show respect!
  • (To Tremborag) I am Chieftain too. You offer disrespect! Know your place.
  • (To Gold Stone Chief) This place…is not Goblin. Not Goblin.
  • (To Gold Stone Chief) They are not Goblin. But I am.
  • (To Pyrite) “Pyrite. I name you Pyrite.”
  • (To Pyrite) “I will meet you outside. You do not die. Chieftain’s orders.”
  • (To Female Adventurer) “Go, go. No need for Humans. Too slow. Eat too much. Also ugly. Go, go.”
  • (To Female Adventurer) “Rags. Chieftain of the Flooded Waters tribe.”

Volume 4[edit | edit source]

  • (To her tribe) “Get cutting. We do not run. We prepare.”

Volume 5[edit | edit source]

  • (To Bethal) “You killed Goblins. You. But we—not kill you. You are…prisoner. Like other two.”
  • (To her Redfangs) “They attacked us! They killed us! So show them same! Show them pain! Show them hate. Show them Goblins.”
  • (To Kerrig) “Trust? Trust? Why Humans only ones who need trust? If trust wanted—get mage! Get truth spell! Get [Emperor] to come here and talk! Then I say tribe is leaving, no want fight. And truth is known to all! We did not start fight. We will end it! If trust you want—get way to trust us!”
  • (To Tremborag) “I said no. Big fat Hob deaf as well as stupid?”
  • (To Reiss) “Mhm. So Humans and Drakes both want it. And not very safe if we can take it. Sounds like we put big ‘stab me’ sign on back. Not doing it.”
  • (To Goblins) “Her name is Erin Solstice. And she is good. She lives in Liscor—in a little inn outside it. And she likes Goblins. She is my…my friend. And no one is going to kill her.”
  • (Thoughts) That was a stupid idea. As stupid as anything she’d heard. Only someone like—like her would come up with that.
  • (To Garen) “You are. Stupid. And bad traitor. Bad Chieftain. Bad brother. Bad everything.
  • (To Garen) “Fix things. Try. Be loyal. Be good.”
  • (To Garen) “Not too late to try! Never too late! Otherwise you run forever!”
  • (To her Tribe) “I am Rags! Chieftain of the Flooded Water tribe! Chieftain of the Redfangs! Chieftain of Reiss’ Goblins! Chieftain of the Cave Goblins! Great Chieftain of the Mountain! Follow me.

Volume 7[edit | edit source]

  • (About Wyverns) “Stupid Wyverns. Go away, come back. Fight with hot thing. Make up minds!”
  • (To Teriarch) “What’s the point of searching for treasure? Goblins fight. Goblins die. Humans, Drakes, makes no difference. Goblins still die. Why die for treasure? What is the point of trying anything? We always die. Always. You tell me, big, shining Dragon.”

Volume 8[edit | edit source]

  • (To Bevussa) “Do not worry. I am the nicest Goblin you will meet. I only wonder: are you honorable Gold-rank adventurers? Questions, questions.”
  • (To Badarrow) “You go rest. Have sad sex with Snapjaw or something. I will let Wings of Pallass go free soon.”
  • (Thoughts) Dead gods, is this what Erin replaced Goblins with? Annoying Gnolls and stupid Centaurs?
  • To Erin frozen body:
    • “What is this supposed to be? I always wanted to ask; I never could. You fed me strange things.”
    • “I practiced every day. To speak to you. It was very frustrating. Yet I had to practice because I wanted to explain—I wanted to tell you how I felt. To complain.”
    • “How dare you? That is what I would have said. How dare…you. You would not understand—but I would explain. How dare you be kind? After what my Chieftain tried to do to you, after what we tried to do. We tried to kill you. Goblins killed your friend. One tried to attack you in your inn…and after all that, you gave us food. You stopped that Drake, Relc, from killing me. You gave us food, you protected us when no one would—how dare you? That is not what Humans are supposed to do.”
    • “They’re fighting for you. Your friends. I am going now. I will come back, when you get up. Your friends…if they don’t make it, if they don’t find a way. I will. I came to say that. Next time—you can cry.”
    • Thank you. I’m sorry.
  • (Thoughts) …Maybe it was just a coincidence. But in The Wandering Inn? Hah!
  • (Thoughts) But sometimes…you did anything you had to. Anything at all. For more than vengeance. For more than hatred. For the only friend you had. For kindness. For hope.
  • (To Tenbault's Humans) “Humans. Give us the Healer and no one gets hurt! We’ll give her back.
  • (Missive to Ishkr) Keep the Potion of Regeneration close. If a blind man or someone else with officer classes comes, let them in. We are coming too.

Volume 9[edit | edit source]

  • (To Ceria) “I have a stupid [Chef] to get rid of. My best [Chef]. I will go to Liscor, soon. Had to help fight monsters. Not sure why they all left.”
  • (To Erin) “I was old before I met you, Erin. Goblins. Humans. I will pull us forwards one step, our species, if I can manage it. Half a step, if that is all. Until we can be children together. But I can’t do it alone. You gave a hungry Goblin food. If I’m ever hungry and lost later—can I come here?”
