Rolairenes Forestshield is a Half-Elven Musician and the main show for the Synphasia Theatre.
Appearance
He's tall and fit with fair blond hair and gray eyes. He has callused hands.
Personality
Rolairenes strives for perfection. He has uncompromising standards for his music and swordsmanship; for him, a single flaw is enough to invalidate everything. This manifests most clearly in his violin playing: he will refuse to perform if even one string is not tuned to his precise expectations. As such, Rolairenes comes across as touchy, aloof and arrogant. He can be dismissive of others' efforts, especially if they fall short of his exacting standards. However, he does not consider himself superior, but assumes that his standards are merely the correct ones, and that everyone else cannot or choose not to meet them. Like other half-Elves from the villages, he perceives time with an immortal’s perspective, thinking in terms of decades. Even after years spent beyond the villages, he remains unaccustomed to the fast pace of the outside world.
Despite his superb ability with the sword, Rolairenes does not see himself as a swordsman, and has no taste for fighting or blood. When an undead Mothbear later survived his strike and nearly killed him, the experience left him deeply shaken.
Background
Rolairenes comes from a traditional half-Elf village of Forestshield in Erribathe. He dedicated himself to mastering the first strike with a blade. One day he met vising Gold-rank adventurers who challenged him. He bested the adventurer in one strike and did so on their subsequent rematch until the adventurer finally managed to withstand the first strike, at which point Rolare forfeited. This story would become famous as an example of the single-minded obsessions and mastery of village half-Elves, and be embellished as him dueling a Named-rank adventurer.
Rolare desired to master something else, the violin, and left the village. He eventually traveled to Menorome and joined the Synphasia Theatre. He became its main attraction despite inconsistent performance schedule due to his perfectionism.

Rolare is a master of the first strike with a blade, having spent centuries perfecting it, but flounders if he needs to follow up. He is able to cut through mithril.
