Seith is a magical substance found in Innworld.

Overview edit edit source

Seith is pure crystallized magic that requires extreme pressure and high levels of ambient mana to create.[1][2] As such, it usually naturally forms at the bottom of the sea.[3] There are several variations, including seithbone[4], seithore, and seith crystal. It was once used as a standardized unit of measurement to determine the intensity of spells.

While most known forms of seith have been lost, it has resurfaced in the present: Nerrhavia located a vase and a dress that had both been made with seith in Cormeng’s Grand Emporium of Antiques and Pawnshop,[5][6] while another sample was found among the recovered loot from Udatron's lab in the Ruins of Albez.[7] Numerous seith deposits are also found in the New Lands of Izril due to them being dredged from the ocean floor, and are responsible for the active mana drain in that region.

Properties edit edit source

Seith is crystalized magic[1]. It can be used to fuel magic, including enchantments, shields, and many other applications.[1] The magic emanating from a small piece of seith exceeded that of a Level 50+ [Mage].[7] Teriarch described seith crystal to be "magic incarnate,"[2] with pure magic being a poor substitute for it. It is capable of powering two Tier 1 spells at the consumption rate of a Tier 4 spell for at least a few hours.[8]

Seith is highly reactive to the point that a microscopic amount exposed to a non-reactive solution can leave a small burn.[8]

In its thread form it is impervious to acid and blunted scissors that were used to cut it.[9] It can be cut with Dragonblood crystal or a mithril razor.
