== Background ==
On Earth, Lamont had worked as a deckhand since he was sixteen. After being transported to Innworld, Lamont worked as a [Sailor] for five months.<ref name=":Singing Ships" /> He crewed in a ship before being found and taken to Wistram.<ref name=":0">[[Chapter 7.29 B]]</ref> At one point, he tried to escape Wistram by hitching a ride with a ship. Unfortunately, when the ship was ten miles out, five [Mages] teleported onto the decks and blew up the sails before forcing the [Captain] to turn back.<ref>[[Chapter 8.63 K]]</ref>
