'''Royalty''' in [[Innworld]] consists of several powerful [[classes]]. == Overview == :''This article deals with royalty, not the "lower" [[nobility]] - for higher classes like [Queens] see [[Royalty]].'' [Monarch] is apparently the moniker for a whole group of classes; a more broad term is [Ruler] which would also include non-royal forms of rulership. The classes can have mostly unique specializations (see the listed persons for each continent, above). The more generalized overview is like this: A [Queen] or [King] is a souvereign ruler of their respective country/nation. Their children become [Princes] or [Princesses] and thus may inherit the ruler class upon the death of their parent(s). Until then, they are successors. Prince-dom may also be acquired via adoption into the royal family, or lost when they are disowned/disinherited. As of yet, it is not clear whether [Emperors] or [Empresses] follow the same rules: while seemingly more grandiose, three of the two known holders of [Emperor] class are conquerors/usurpers. As their power appears to be similar to that of [Kings] and [Queens], they are listed below just like them. Moreover, there's also the class [Tyrant].<ref name=":0">[https://wanderinginn.com/2019/05/11/6-15-k/ Chapter 6.15 K]</ref> [Royalty] deemed legitimate by the System governing classes and levels, has some sway over the classes of other people and may appoint special classes to worthy individuals that are better than the base class. Classes like [Steward] or [Royal Guardian] may be the result. This is, like nobilitation, an act of will of the legitimate [Royal] themselves, and usually done only sparingly and with great delibaration. == Ranking == Royalty usually makes up the government in a Kingdom. Continents where no tradition of Kingdoms has so far been shown in the story are [[Izril]] (ruled mostly by [[Humans|Human]] and [[Drakes|Drake]] nobility, with [[Laken]] of the [[Unseen Empire]] as the only newly emerged irregularity) and [[Baleros]] (ruled by mercenary companies). == Terandria == :''(see: [[Nobility#Terandrian System]] for details on the lineage system and "lower" noble ranks)'' Most of Terandria's royalty is related to the [[Hundred Families of Terandria]], the descendents of the original hundred [Heroes] from the age of myth. New royalty is likely to have their lineage integrated into the Hundred Families through marriage eventually. In [[Terandria]], it is possible that a [King] is overthrown by a [Duke] (for example) who then inherits their rule by rule of conquest/rebellion. That is apparently a human concept that other [[races]] may not share, especially the [[Drakes]] and [[Minotaurs]], who are respectively concerned with a lawful or honorful approach to government.<ref name="ITTQ">[https://wanderinginn.com/2019/11/09/interlude-the-titans-question/ Interlude: The Titan's Question]</ref> So far, the following monarchies and their royalty have appeared in the story: * King of Diplomacy / [King of Intrigue] [[Reclis du Marquin|Reclis]] of [[House Marquin]] (of [[Calanfer]]) ** Queen of Radiance [[Ielane du Marquin]], queen consort ** [Princess of the Inn] [[Lyonette du Marquin]], sixth princess ** [Deathtouch Princess] [[Seraphel du Marquin]], fourth princess * Griffin [Queen] [[Novakya]] (of [[Kaliv]]) ** [[Griffin Prince]] (disinherited) ** Griffin Princess, his sister * [Wyrmpact King] [[Itorin II]] of [[Ailendamus]] * [Queen] [[Geilouna Desoyvel|Geilouna]] of [[Desonis]] *[King of Bows] [[Itreimedes]] of [[Avel]] *[King] Redoris of [[Silvaria]] <span style="color:grey;">(''Deceased'')</span> *[Titan King] of [[Golaen]]; only mentioned *[King of Men] [[Nuvityn]] of [[Erribathe]] **[Prince of Men] [[Iradoren]], his son and heir <span style="color:grey;">(''Deceased'')</span> *[King] Evein of [[Pheislant]]<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2021/05/02/8-20/ Chapter 8.20]</ref> *King Nicte Allorev of [[Noelictus]]; only mentioned<ref name=":1">[https://wanderinginn.com/2023/08/30/9-55-pt-1/ Chapter 9.55 (Pt. 1)]</ref> **Princess Kadane<ref name=":1" /> *[Key Princess] [[Telleis]] of [[Samal]] *[Princess] [[Angelica]] of Morein *[Prince] [[Ruis]] of [[Nadel]] *[Princess] of [[Cenidau]]<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2022/04/26/8-82-pt-3/ Chapter 8.82 (Pt. 3)]</ref> *The [Kings] of [[Taimaguros]] and [[Gaiil-Drome]] have only been mentioned == Chandrar == Royalty in [[Chandrar]] is far more disparate than in Terandria. So far, the following [Monarchs] have appeared: * [Bandit Queen] [[Revine Zecrew]] (of [[Savere]]) * [Manifold Emp<nowiki/>eror of Bounded Threads] Empress / [[Emperor of Sands]] (of the [[Empire of Sands]]) * [Empress of Beasts] [[Nsiia]] (of [[Tiqr]]) * [High King] [[Perric]] (of [[Medain]]) ** Magores, lesser king of West Medain<ref>{{VERef|10.05}}</ref> * [King of Challenges] [[Raelt Leysars]] (of [[Jecrass]]) ** [Queen of Covenant] [[Jecaina Leysars]], his daughter * King of Destruction [[Flos Reimarch]] (of [[Reim]]) * <nowiki>[</nowiki>[[Quarass]]] (of [[Germina]]) * [Queen] [[Yisame Beziin]] (of [[Nerrhavia]]) **[Prince of Sands] [[Zenol Isphel]] **[Prince] Ziwar Isphel <span style="color:grey;">(''Deceased'')</span> **[Prince] Esceit Quarein<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2021/12/01/8-54-h/ Chapter 8.54 H]</ref> **Prince Exhait<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2021/10/24/8-48-h/ Chapter 8.48 H]</ref> * [Undying King] [[Fetohep]] (of [[Khelt]]) * King [[Jaganismet]] (of Heroph)<ref>{{VERef|10.12 H (Pt. 1)}}</ref> *Queen Bennis (of Zethe) *[King] Aliman (of Xem)<ref name=":0" /> *King Victal (of Lamullt)<ref name=":0" /> == Rhir == The [[Blighted Kingdom]] is one of two rather special kingdoms on [[Rhir]]. Since [[Othius the Fourth|Othius IV]], the Blighted King, is assisted by powerful temporal magic to remain in power, little is known about the technicalities of his rule. He is married to the [[Blighted Queen]] (a former [[Adventurers|adventurer]], who appears to be a consort-[Queen] without the right of inheritance) and currently has two young daughters, crown [Princess] [[Isodore]] and her sister [[Erille]]. On the other hand, the [[Demon King]] rules over the [[Demon Kingdom]], and even less is known about him. Demons are not officially recognized as a foreign power all over [[Innworld]]. [[Serinpotva]] is also the [Empress] of the harpies, but her authority is greatly reduced as her empire is gone. Originating from Rhir are also the [[Antinium]], who are ruled by their Queens (recently exiled into Izril). So far, the following Queens of the Antinium are known: * [[Armored Queen]] * [[Bessachidia]] <span style="color:grey;">(''Deceased'')</span> * [[Bird]] *[Supreme Matriarch] [[First Grand Queen]] <span style="color:grey;">(''Deceased'')</span> *[[Flying Queen]] *[[Free Queen]] *[[Grand Queen]] *[[Silent Queen]] *[[Twisted Queen]] ==Izril== Before Laken Godart became [Emperor], there hadn't been any royalty on Izril in a thousand years. The [[Harpies]] used to have an empire when they still lived on the continent. [[Sheta]] was their last [Empress]. ==Baleros== [[Baleros]] may have various nations and governments, including monarchies, but it is considered that the Mercenary Companies are the real powers of the continent instead. The following [Monarchs] have appeared: *[King] [[Loran Grimnar|Loran]] of Lorandia<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2023/01/22/9-33/ Chapter 9.33]</ref> ==Others== The current Minotaur King of the [[House of Minos]] is [[Inreza]], [Virtuous King, Arm of Giants]. The [[Drath Archipelago]] is ruled by an [Emperor]. The First Dragonlord of Dawn, Raendersolis, once declared himself Dragonking. It's implied to have been greatly contested by the rest of [[Dragons|dragonkind]].<ref>[https://wanderinginn.com/2022/09/25/9-17-r/ Chapter 9.17 R]</ref> The [[Goblin Kings|Goblin King]] is considered the leader of all goblin-kind. (see page for more info) [[Oberon]] is the king of the Fae. Three versions of [[King Arthur]] also reside in his realm. == Abilities and Skills== According to royal knowledge, there is a substantial difference in the power level between "mere" nobles and actual royals: [Princesses] or [Princes] get more powerful levels than mere [Lords], and a level 30 [King] would equal a level 60 [Major] (which is not even a noble class).<ref name="7.16L">[https://wanderinginn.com/2020/03/31/7-16-l/ Chapter 7.16 L]</ref> As stated above, royalty is able to assign special classes, and a [Monarch] can remove an unwanted class from others. There are Royal Skills that exist independently from their holders. This is obscure knowledge, known to older members of the Hundred Families.<ref>{{VERef|10.15}}</ref> ===Related Skills:=== ====Empire Skills:==== * [Art of the Builder] *[Blacksky Riders] *[Blessing of the Hearth] *[Field of Harvests] * [Fields of Bounty] *[Low-born Militias] *[Minor Blessing of Luck] *[The Changing Citizenry] *[Wild Riot] * [Will of the Beasts] ====Kingdom Skills:==== * [Desperate Rallying] *[Quickened Breeding (Animals)] *[Verdant Growth of the Fields] *[Witness their Demise] ====Units: ==== *[Bows of Sand] ====Others:==== *[A King’s Truth] *[A Kingdom’s Strength] *[Agreement of Stories] *[Arbiter’s Judgement: Every Nation’s Judge] *[Army of the King] *[Army: Flicker Charge] *[Aura of the Emperor] *[Aura of the King] *[Aura of the Lion] *[Blood is Growth] *[Boon of the Princess] *[Boon of the Throne] *[Bound Spell -
