Years ago, Bastam was an influential and powerful mage living at Wistram.
Chronology[edit | edit source]
Wistram Days[edit | edit source]
Bastam joins Jurix and Ophelia to aid the Wistram students who had been ambushed by pirates out at sea.
He and a small group of other influential mages are introduced to Ceria by her mentor, Illphres. He is one of five mages that came together to challenge Cognita in hopes of opening the doors to the upper levels of Wistram. [2]
On the day of the challenge, Bastam and the others deliver their final words to Ceria, their only witness and helper. He remembers Ceria's first year exam, and declares that he and the other mages would show her that they also had what she had shown them that day: courage and daring.[2]
Bastam and the others die to Cognita and the four other Golem guardians. Their bodies, not all entirely in one piece, are stored in bags of holding by a group of Golems that carry away their remains. Their bodies are placed in a room dedicated to disassembling corpses. Before the Golems could begin processing their remains, Pisces reanimates the challengers' corpses. They rise as Liches, more powerful than normal due to their proximity to death and their power in life. The Liches are nearly as powerful as Revenants, as close as Pisces could have made them. He commands the Liches to aid him when he fights his way into the catacombs, pilfers Archmage Nekhret's tomb, and sets Nekhret's curse of shaded apparitions upon the academy.[2]
