First Appearance |
Hekusha, also known as the Healer of Tenbault, is a famous healer who lives in Tenbault. She has gained a fabled reputation in Izril and is their best-known [Healer].
Appearance[edit | edit source]
The Healer is a middle-aged woman who appears to be strikingly ordinary. Thanks to beauty products, she has smooth fair skin and lustrous hair.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Although she looks like an aristocrat, her manner of disposition is that of a mouse. Accordingly, she is quite cowardly, evident by how Magnolia did not bother asking the Healer to heal Tyrion's sons, believing that she would not be brave enough to make the journey, even while protected by her personal guard, led by a Named Adventurer.[2]
Hekusha has a selfish side, as she could teach [Restoration] to others, but instead devotes her research to casting it efficiently and encoding the spell.[1] She is also full of self-importance, demanding others to rescue her because of who she is.
Background[edit | edit source]
In her childhood, Hekusha was friends with a group of [Ladies] that included Pryde Ulta, Bethal Walchaís, and Magnolia Reinhart, although she wasn't a [Lady] herself then.
After the First Antinium War, Magnolia Reinhart saw that there weren't enough [Healers] to heal those with serious injuries without using potions. As such, she created the Healer of Tenbault as someone who could replace potions.[3] Despite her reputation as a famed [Healer], in reality, the Healer of Tenbault is a [Restoration Mage], capable of casting [Restoration] several times a day, which was taught to her by Teriarch.[4] She did not become well-known until the Second Antinium War, during which, according to her legend, was able to heal thousands of people.
After the war, the Healer made her base of operations in Tenbault, where she hired a team of twenty adventurers to protect her. Thousands camp around her home each day, hoping she’ll tend to them.[5] Even most Gold-rank adventurers are only able to visit her once, and perhaps cure a terrible affliction. If they were luckier, even reattach a freshly-severed limb.[6]
At one point, Ressa had sliced off her hand, allegedly from a cooking accident, and Magnolia was able to use her personal connection to the Healer to reattach it back.
Shriekblade has made multiple trips to the Healer for her depression.[7]

Chronology[edit | edit source]
The Healer was first mentioned by Ceria when she and the Horns were looking for someone to heal Ryoka's leg.[5] Later, Ressa brings her up as a possibility in healing Tyrion's sons when they are poisoned by the Circle of Thorns, though Magnolia dismisses her.
After Erin is shot and frozen, the Horns of Hammerad make their way to Tenbault in the hopes of getting the Healer's help, though they are unable to secure an audience despite Yvlon being a niece of Magnolia's.
With the help of Kevin, Rags and the Flooded Waters Tribe are able to besiege Tenbault and successfully kidnap the Healer in the hopes of helping Erin.[8]

- It is possible to obtain a pass that grants a personal audience with her, instead of having to wait as long as other people.[9]
- Not even members of the Five Families are guaranteed to meet her.
- She may be able to cure many illnesses, but can't restore people to what they have once been.[10]
- She has her own sigil which is a Palm Holding a Bloom in White.[11]
- Az'kerash initially believed that she was a [Cleric] who would be capable of wiping out his undead forces.
- Tyrion estimated that House Veltras could train ten [Healers] who could heal four times the number of people that the Healer of Tenbault heals each year.[12]
- While Magnolia created the Healer of Tenbault to replace potions, it is noted by Jericha that unlike most of her assets, the Healer is not protected by any [Maid]-auxiliaries, and that Magnolia's [Maids] and staff had left Tenbault twelve years ago. Thus it is theorized that Magnolia had abandoned this particular endeavor, though the Healer still contributes some of her income to House Reinhart.[12]
