Viltach is recently occupied a lot with the war that brews between Ailendamus and the Dawn Concordat. Viltach, ever the pragmatist, is betting on the bigger and war-proven Ailendamus, and also fosters a personal relationship with [King] Itorin II. While Ailendamus is the aggressor in this war, Viltach tries to keep Wistram on a path of neutrality which would deprive the Dawn Concordat of a possible magical intervention.[3]

- (To Feor and Naili) “There, you see? She is grateful. Not a complete fool after all.”
- (To Trey) “You know, Trey. I liked you. I thought of you like a second son—no, that’s an exaggeration. I thought of you like a young man and treated you like a son.”
