Hectval is a Drake city-state located in Izril, just past the Bloodfields[1]. It is part of the Three Cities Alliance, also known as the Hectval-Luldem-Drisshia alliance[2].
Geography[edit | edit source]
Government[edit | edit source]
Among their leaders is the Scalespeaker, which is the [Diplomat]'s equivalent of a Watch Captain. Hectval is very anti-Gnoll, to the point that they force all Gnolls to live in indentured servitude as Paworkers. Forcing them to wear collars as a ‘sign of endearment’. In order to keep Gnollish influence in the city from rising past a ‘tolerable’ level. Hectval’s government constantly passes laws and Amendments that disenfranchise and delay Gnolls from being able to vote.
Hectval is primarily a Drake city. Meaning it’s built by and for Drakes. Because of this, any insult to the city is quickly met with violence. As in the case when Lism beat up the Scalespeaker, causing Hectval to launch a raiding party with the intention of killing Krshia, Lism, and other members of Liscorian leadership.
Though these actions would fail, one of the strike teams would kill Erin Solstice. Causing a war between Liscor and Hectval to break out, and leading to a treaty between them and Pallas to not be renewed.

Military Strength[edit | edit source]
Hectval is known for its crossbows, strong bows and arrow fletching[2]. They have strong [Archer] battalions. Hectval is able to specialize to such a degree thanks to the Alliance, allowing them to outsource classes like [Mages] and [Heavy Infantry] to the other cities.
During the war between the alliance and Liscor. Hectval was unprepared for an actual military conflict. Suffering from the heavy losses to outright annihilation of their elites like the Mithral Spears. And expecting only light skirmishes, Hectval and the alliance would be pushed back to Lookout Lookout Hill.
Hectval and the alliance would play small parts in the war. With the Antinium & Manus taking center stage in the conflict. During the conflict, most Hectval [Soldiers] fought on the right front of the war. Facing off against Belgrades Ants led by the [Combined Arms Strategist] himself. Where the city would be dragged into hell, losing thousands of soldiers over the course of the conflict.
It would grow so bad that near constant mutinies, desertions, and fights were a common site in the camps on the right. Many [Soldiers] would be left severely traumatized by their time on the right front, as horror stories of entire companies and battalions being buried alive. Unpredictable ambushes, and [Soldiers] collapsing paths into pits filled with bear traps were common and based in reality.
It’s speculated that by the time Manus pulled out, Hectval had lost most of their veteran core of soldiers and was now running mainly off of inexperienced conscripts.
