Lizardfolk

From The Wandering Inn Wiki
(Redirected from Booru:Lizardfolk)

Lizardfolk are humanoid Lizards and one of the Races of Innworld.

Physiology[edit | edit source]

Appearance[edit | edit source]

Lizardfolk are bipedal and take on the appearance of walking lizards. They superficially resembles Drakes, however Lizardfolk are more colorful and have neck frills.

Physical Qualities[edit | edit source]

Diet[edit | edit source]

By and large, Lizardfolk are carnivorous. As such they prefer to eat undercooked meat.[1]

Magical Qualities[edit | edit source]

To an extent, Lizardfolk are a race naturally inclined towards magic.[2]

Special Abilities[edit | edit source]

Some of the Lizardfolk can breathe underwater.[3]

Evolution[edit | edit source]

By fulfilling certain unknown conditions, the Lizardfolk can evolve into a new subtypes forms.[4] Unlike Goblins, who have just the possibility to become Hobogoblins, Lizardfolk have numerous evolution paths. Unfortunately, most Lizardfolk don't evolve at all. The majority that do become Nagas, Gorgons or Lamias, which are the most common. Still that is not the end though. After having gained a new form, it is possible to change even further. For instance, the Lamias could become Star Lamias. It’s very complex and some people think they all belong to different species, which is not the case.[5]

Known Evolutionary Subtypes:[edit | edit source]

  • Nagas: Small, but very strong. Also the kind of form the Lizardfolk turn into most of the time if they don’t have a set path.
  • Gorgons: Huge, strong and tough. A perfect form for fighters.
  • Lamia: Smaller then Nagas, but they have larger brains. Common for [Mages] and other intellectuals.
    • Star Lamia: A Lamia secondary evolutionary form.
  • Quexals: One of the rare possible forms. They are the fastest of the Lizardfolk evolutions, bar none. They can jump and even glide depending on the circumstances.[6]
  • Medusae: One of the rare possible forms. While not as smart as Lamias, they are close, and even if not as strong and tough as Gorgons or even Nagas, they can heal and see trough their hair-snakes. They are also solitary.[7]
  • Indishei[8]
  • Scylla: Capable of shapeshifting.[9]
  • Tasgiel: Suited for cold environments, such as the tundras of the north of Baleros. They may share a resemblance to serpents.[10]

Behavior and Culture[edit | edit source]

The Lizardfolk live primarily in the jungles of Baleros, often near water.[3] They are generally very social. Lizardfolk will generally push those they dislike out of the group.[11]

They are a very populous species, and are estimated to number twice as many as Izril's combined Drake and Human population.[12]

They are usually led by and follow the commands of the members of their species that have evolved, the Nagas.

Primarily Lizardfolk cities twist and evolve with the surges of Lizardfolk migrations. In contrast, cities for Nagas are more permanent with thick walls.[12]

History[edit | edit source]

The Lizardfolk hold the record for having the most world-spanning empires in history.[13]

The Nagatine Empire attempted to control Baleros and invade Chandrar and Izril, the latter resulting in the Naga Incursions. They were repelled and lost the Eyes of Baleros that empowered then, but remained powerful for a long time[14] until the Jungle Tails, the greatest Lizardfolk company, was defeated and supplanted by the Forgotten Wing Company.

Relations[edit | edit source]

Drakes[edit | edit source]

While Drakes strongly dislike it if someone mistakes them with the Lizardfolk and they don't see them favourably at all, the Lizardfolk seem to be rather nonchalant about it, showing that the feud is more one-sided.[15] Or not entirely one-sided, as when they are on the same side, Drakes could get on Lizardfolk nerves, which was actually fairly amazing to Dullahans, Centaurs, and Baleros’ Humans who lived together with them. It was all the Drakes military regulations like having to call out passphrases that changed every day whenever the Lizardfolk went for a walk or used the latrine or just at random, to which the Lizardfolk do not appreciate.[8]
